I have a Dan Wesson 715 SS and after reading the new to me Dan Wesson thread saw EWK made muzzle brakes.

Do you think a blued one would look good on a SS Dan or should I wait for his SS model to come back in stock?
A part of me thinks a blued one sitting in front of a SS barrel might look good.. I dunno... You?

I think the contrast would look just like what you're describing; that you couldn't get the right one yet.

I would think the contrast would have to be pulled off somewhere else on the pistol as well for it to not look..... desperate.

Just an aesthetic opinion.

Another opinion is - you won't know what color it is while looking through the sights.

Thanks guys..

I guess i'll wait for a SS one..Kinda the way I was leaning to begin with.
I guess if I ever came across blued and wanted stainless, I might buy it anyhow since I have an "in" with having it "hard-chromed" and the difference would be considerably minimized.

Just something to think about if you already know the expense of it being chromed. Usually minimized by doing all the prep-work yourself and waiting for it to be done with a larger commercial batch of another contract's items.

Well if curiosity killed the cat and I were a cat i'd be dead.. I ordered a blued one just to see how well they work and if I like it I can always grab a SS one down the road and sell this one..

I hate the internet and credit cards kinda... :)

As Todd mentioned in his post if the blued one is to your liking but you'd like it to match the stainless steel you could always have it hard chrome plated. I have had great results using Ron Mahovsky at Metalife to hard chrome plate my guns. You might want to give him a call to see what his price would be on doing your EWK muzzle brake.

You could just polish it if you like it. A quick coat of Johnson’s paste wax now and then will keep it looking good. I turned down a Green Mountain 10-22 bull barrel around 10 years ago and left it in the white to match the rest of the gun which I polished. Johnson’s has kept both the steel and aluminum looking as good as the day I completed the build.

And..... You now have a pre-engineered excuse to pop for the next blued one that catches your eye.

doubleh

Good idea! I did that with an Essex 1911 frame that I put together. The bluing was already starting to wear while I was working on the frame so I decided I would just remove the bluing with sandpaper and steel wool. Gave it a high polish look and I have left it in the white all these years without a hint of rust anywhere on it.

It won't have that ss look for long, hit the loud button a bunch of times and it will be two tone. Black on top/ss on the bottom.

You should be looking at buying 6/1000th's shims also. In a perfect would you screw it on and the hole point up and you have 4/1000th's +/- cylinder gap. More often then not that is not the case. I turned mine down on a lathe to get the correct alignment and still use a 6/1000th shim as a washer/anti-friction washer.

I use the muzzle breaks coupled with the EKW heavy bbl shrouds. They make a fantastic combo when paired with my favorite plinking loads, 158gr cast/coated fn hp's with 8.0gr of power pistol.
