What do you use your BP weapons for?

ETA: The school I attended asked us to refrain from saying weapon. They're sporting guns or tools. Why? Avoid any negative connotation and denial of propaganda by the antis.

I think of my cap and ball revolvers as "primitive assault weapons", myself.

Haven't 'used' mine other than getting used to taking them apart getting used to wearing and handling them. They were purchased to use afield. Hunting and companion sidearms.

I bought my 1858 to give my model 25 a rest when going afield. I carry the 25 in .45 Colt for Deer where legal, varmints of all sorts. As a sidearm for a shotgun or rifle, I like a .45 Colt when my longarm is geared towards small game and an accurate .22 when my longarm is loaded for big game.

So I'm checking out the 1858 instead of a fixed cartridge gun. I originally bought the Pietta 1851 for looks and the sale price from Dixie, but I'm going to see if I can use it instead of a .22 lr.

The 1851 or 1858 on the 2" belt with the full flap, knives, and possible bag is comfortable for me to wear and walk with. I could see taking off for a day in the woods with the 1851 If I can shoot it ( Hillbilly standards are right around minute of beverage can at 75 feet )

I should be nice and let this pass but... where's the sense of temptation if you can resist it?
