What gun thing does everyone use?

EBR shooters and those who shoot of any late 19th and 20th Century military rifles need a slling, mat, shooting jacket, and a spotting scope.

Call me biased, but I don't think blind people should be shooting.

I know of at least one Paralympic air rifle competitor who would beg to differ.

As to the original question:

The basics. That's what everyone needs. Most of those things have already been listed in this thread.

"I don't think blind people should be shooting."
Didn't you see Ray Charles running off a would-be thief in 'The Blues Brothers'? Double tap with a sixgun.

Ear protection is very nice. Especially if you want to keep your hearing. Not such a big thing with normal rifles (non-magnums, barrels longer than 16 inches. The .303 out of an SMLE is much quieter to the shooter than a .32), but a must with pistols. Now, in an indoor range, you will find the sound magnified.

Reloading presses would be nice.

But the most important thing that a gun owner needs?

More guns.

OK, Hearing, Eye protection, and gun cleaning supplies/tools have been mentioned.

So I'll add.. A range bag of some sort. Yeah, sure a Bullseye shooters box will work for most hand gun outings, but for pistol and or rifle trips to the range you need something to carry the Gun/s, ammunition, cronograph, tripod, ammunition, targets, stapler, ear plugs and muffs, glasses, (extra eyes and ears for that friend or new guy that's unprepared), more ammunition, binoculars, spotting scope, pen/pencil, notebook, gun lube, chips, sandwich, pop, jerky, or what ever else you take shooting. I have a 'one bag fits all situations' bag... Not really, I just use the same bag whether I'm rifle or pistol shooting. But I'd like an identical bag each for rifle and pistol.

Other than that.... A SAFE PLACE TO SHOOT!

What does a shooter need?

More guns, always, at least one 1911 and one .357 wheelie among them. :D
Oh, and for the semi-autos? A magazine loader. I went through 200 rounds of .45acp one day at the range with my Springer GI -- and left the one I had at home. My thumb hurt all weekend...I went and bought a spare mag loader the next day, which now stays in the range bag.

gun things

All of the above:)

Well, I guess all the suggestions have run from the realistic to the humorous.

So, the next question is: what gun thing would you order via the internet, no matter your shooting sport (hunting, trap, skeet, IPSC, IDPA, plinking, etc)?

My next question is, what would encourage you to buy the gun thing via the internet, versus going to your local gun shop, WalMart or other discount store?

Is it price? Convenience of shopping online? Something you don't find at your local stores?

Obviously, I'm not going to order a bottle of Hoppes #9 over the internet, when I can buy it just about anywhere in my metro area.

But there are other items that I can find online that I can't always find at local retail stores. Maybe I can find a similar item, but it may be much more expensive than what I can find online.

And these are items that I'd imagine every shooter needs at one time or another, as some of the above posts have suggested.

Every motorcyclist who ever rides out of state needs to have a helmet. And there are some good deals on helmets online, versus buying one at a Harley dealership.

So, what gun thing do you think just about every gun owner needs that you would be willing to buy online?

Thanks for any replies.

Lockable Handgun/ Valuable Safes

I have two favorites first one is more expensive than the second.
This gives folks a choice with budgets, and compares the differences as reflected by price and features.

These are a great idea to meet CCW regulations and other firearm owner needs

1. This one is my favorite : http://www.handgunsafe.com/401s.htm

I have used these for 20+ years. Mine were called Simplex Safes when I originally bought these.
NO batteries. No Keys. Combination can be changed by owner.
Bolts into a vehicle, bolt in[to] accessible hiding places in home or business. Not just for guns, also for travel, and in the home, real easy way to keep prescription medicines handy - while still safe from children.

2. Secure-It Handgun Storage Safe : http://aacfi.com/products/secureit.shtml

This one uses a key.
It is easy to Bolt into a vehicle, or home business as stated above.
Less expensive and it really is versatile with its "portable" feature.
Remember the mention of keeping medicines out of curious reach and accessibility? Traveling and using this for 'scripted meds while visiting relatives or kinfolks is just being a responsible adult.

I will NEVER personally be dependent on any security "box" using batteries.
I base this on personal life experiences over too many years.

continuing...

3. Ballistol.

This is a proven Sportman's Lube. It used to be carried in Mom&Pop Guns Stores, Sporting goods, and all . These older stores have closed and new 10. stores are into the newfangled.

See, this stuff works and is non-toxic. Assisting with kids, and some adults going through Cancer, or kinfolks with Cancer - the need for this non-toxic product was not available locally - so Internet.

4. RIG products distributed by Silenco.
Another proven Product company that used to be in these Mom&Pop stores, as I stated with newfangled stores come newfangled Products.

RIG Grease [ Rust Inhibiting Grease] come out in 1935. Proven
RIG +P came out later to deal with the galling Stainless Steel guns had - that Blued Guns do not have.
RIG +P is great for high pressure areas since it was designed for such applications. Slides, hinge pins on shotguns and other uses.

RIG 44 is a GREAT bore cleaner. All of the RIG Gun Care products are GREAT! Rest of the RIG line includes cleaning kits, and accessories, shooting glasses, ear muffs ...etc.
I would have to check - used to be able to order ear muffs and with a company/club logo once a set up fee and all set up.

5. STOS
Distributed by Ponsess Warren. [Shotgun shell reloading folks]
STOS is a grease that really is "slicker that owl stuff".
Hinge pins on shotguns for instance.

6. Pachmayr http://www.lymanproducts.com/pachmayr/index.htm

Pachmayr Recoil Pads http://www.lymanproducts.com/pachmayr/index.htm

This is THE ONLY recoil pad. Period end of story.
Get your shotgun and rifle fitted to YOU and get Pachmayr Decelerator installed - and you will not only be happy - also a better shooter.
Gunsmith does carry these - either fire them , or order one and educate them.
I am right on this, no matter how opinionated or hard-headed it sounds - I am right on this.

I have been using Pachmayer accessories before some here were a itch in their daddy's britches. These products are proven! Here is something else I have to order:
Flush Mount Sling Swivel System scroll down a bit here :
http://www.lymanproducts.com/pachmayr/index.htm.

7. Kids Equipment

Very few places carry anything to fit a kid. This ticks me off! So two places I have/ do order accessories for kids are Silenco mentioned above and

8. Beretta. http://products.berettausa.com/

Will Fennell
where are you? I cannot find the kids eyes and ears.

Will came to my rescue and shared Beretta has some nice kids accessories.
These eyes and ears are really really nice!

Oh yeah, kids saw the toe tags and other stuff, and I got into trouble ( again) once the kids saw the 28 ga shotguns and all sorts of other accessories.
Some very nice shell pouches for kids and Ladies

Kids are human beings, just not as tall and don't weigh as much is all. Safety is something one cannot put a value one, and not a darn thing wrong if it is "nice" and all.
Kids, our future, invest in them and reap the dividends!

I have other things I have to order, suggest to folks.

9. iShot range bags are another...

10. Ladies.

Dammit to hell! How come nobody stocks anything for the ladies??
Internet sources - pay attention here, you folks NEED to get your act together and cater to ladies more.

:)

Hey the man asked, just shared is all...
