"What Gun Were You The Most Disappointed With?" Redux

Colt Combat Elite. Wouldn't feed any JHPs and only fed some ball ammo. Most of the edges were sharp enough to shave with.

H&K P7. Extremely well made and gorgeous machining, but recoil seemed excessive for what is after all a rather heavy pistol.

Any semiauto rimfire that isn't a Ruger Mk. series, including the Browning Buckmark.

I have had 2 guns that were very disappointing. Taurus TCP, even after two trips back to Taurus could never make it through a whole magazine without a jam. My dad had a Colt Mustang 380 he owned for 30 years but never fired it. He, however, cleaned it once a year. He said he somehow he lost the slide stop. He took it to a gunsmith and had it replaced. He gave it to me a couple of years ago. I took it to gun range, but after 10 rounds the slide stop came off. I took it to a different gunsmith, and he put a new one on. I took it to a range, but after a dozen rounds, the slide stop came off again. I put it back on, shot a few more rounds and off it came. Now, it just sits in my safe.

Try as I might, I can't seem to come up with a legitimate nominee. I was a little annoyed with two poly Walthers I once had.
I found the P99 .40 to be a real headache to take apart, and I was a little irked that the P22 wasn't internally identical to the P99's, but I never had any shooting-related problems with either.
I believe I've had pretty good luck as far as reliability and accuracy with everything I've ever owned.
How weird is that??

I bought a inexpensive 9 MM kind of a knock around shooter not to be confused with the quality Guns that I bought after getting the POS fixed and sold Any body remember the Helwan I had a few guns before that I liked ok Ruger security six was great Bought a smith 4609 worked great but I was not happy with it

Heritage rough rider 22/22mag with 4" barrel I believe.

Mine didn't shave any lead. Timing was ok.
Most inaccurate weapon I've ever fired. Including 20$ Walmart
BB gun pistols and a slingshot I got at a garage sale.

1. Early .40 S&W Sigma; worked fine, but I couldn't stand the trigger pull.

2. Colt AA2000. I bought one when the prices tanked, not believing a Colt product could be THAT bad. It was.

Auto Ordinance Model 1927.

Bang, jam, bang, jam, bang, jam.

I guess the stick magazine was just too heavy.

Sold it before figuring out the problem since someone else just had to own it.

I bought it from a retired LEO who had the same problem with it.

Never been disappointed in a gun I've bought, I've had the advantage of being able to test most of them.

My most disappointed would be the first time I tried a HK USP. Always wanted one and thought I'd love them and discovered they do not fit me at all. Feel like crap in the hand, hate the triggers, don't like the balance, etc etc etc.

Still love how they look though.

My favorite description of Kimber: "Kimber's the hot girl at the party who's a bit too aware she's pretty."

The internet made me so freaking nervous the first time I shot my first Kimber. Shouldn't have worried, it and my second Kimber have had fewer stoppages than my Glocks. Guess I'm lucky.

kimber super carry custom: a lemon from the start.

won't go into details (quite a few), but the slide actually rattles on the frame.

Another thumbs down for the Sig Mosquito. Seemed like a good idea to get the kids into shooting, if it ever actually worked. The simple fact that they include different springs to try to make it fire different loads should have been a huge red flag. Neither one worked with the ammo that I have cases of and shoots fine out of every other .22 in my family.

Shame on Sig for even producing this piece of crap (closely followed by the DAK, whoever thought that adding 1.5 lbs to a reset pull was a good thing should be institutionalized) and shame on me for not doing my homework.

I had a few helwans, mind were great which led me down the beretta road to the 92 which is my favorite auto ever...although I am drawn to lugers and Walther PPKs

.
I wonder If you happen to have gotten ahold of some +P's with that HK P7. Or maybe the gas ports were plugged up. Recoil just doesn't enter into the equation with that gun.
I have an M8 and an M13.

A Rossi lever action .410. It was beautifully non functional. I was pretty disappointed in the Diamondback DB9 as received(both mine and a friends). Sights off by feet at 15 yards and a stoppage on the 3rd rnd in the mag most times. Replacing the rear sight and the mag spring with Keltec parts made it work pretty well.....but it is just enough bigger than my TCP. 380 that I stuck with the .380 for everyday carry.

Sadly, I've never met a derringer I really liked. Cobra I had had a terrible trigger and misfired frequently due to light strikes. High Standard worked but found another home. Only accurate guns can maintain my interest.

S&W M&P .40 Compact

It had the worst trigger I've ever shot (how can a trigger be mushy and gritty at the same time?) The trigger was heavy, too. It jammed all the time, as well. It was my first pistol experience, and I'm thankful I moved on to find out that it wasn't typical of modern pistols.

That AMT brought back memories of a Hard Baller I had. It got stolen and the insurance bought me a new KP90DC Ruger. I won that one. :D I'd shake that thief's hand if I knew who it was except that he busted out my truck's window to get in and find it under the seat.

My BIGGEST disappointment, I guess, was probably a Ramline Exactor .22 pistol. All the magazine articles made it sound like the future was here! Wow, fantastic, 22 ounces full sized all polymer .22 pistol! Well, it is a POS. I still have it, plastic magazines are screwed up. The springs are weak and it misfires a lot.

My exposure is limited, but I haven't had a bad one yet as far as function goes. Most disappointing was a S&W Model 12. Never could find a load that thing liked from an accuracy standpoint and finally sold it to a friend that wanted it.

My father got me a 5 shot Taurus 357. I don't remember the model. The cylinder got jammed at the range with live rounds still in it. The range officer had to pry the cylinder out and we sent it back to Taurus. It came back from the factory with the timing way off. Never again will I buy a Taurus.

Sig P238. Had to have it when it first came out- had a tough time getting my hands on one.
Constant stovepipes and the front sight was the wrong one, Sig sent me the correct one and swapped out my 3 mags but still...I need to call them again- I understand they have a third version of the mags now- wonder if they'll still do a free swap after, what? 5 years?
Was a huge Sig fan before that gun- love my P228 and P220 but I haven't bought a Sig since.

Kel Tec P3AT without a doubt is the worse gun I have ever owned. The Kel Tec vacationed in FL for 5 months before I ever got to carry it. Over the course of 3 years it broke the take down pin. The recoil spring ate the top off the guide rod. Both the extractor and the ejector broke on it.

For me it was a CZ 75B in .40 S&W and a CZ 75B Compact 9mm. Neither gun ran right on WWB ammo. I now have a CZ 75B 9mm that shoots everything beautifully, I guess the third time with a CZ is a charm!

Kimber CDP. I'll never buy a mid priced 1911 ever again. DW's and GC's from now on.

Ruger P95. Cheap junk. Unreliable. Poor performance.

Keltec P32
Kahr P380
S&W J Frame

Basically all the smallest CCW pistols are absolute garbage in a gun fight. Poor shootability, terrible sights. They're fine against muggers, mobs, or a guy with a knife, but if you have to go up against a half decent shooter with a Glock 21, you're dead meat. I don't want anything smaller than a G26 now.

Kahr CW45.

Has gone back to the factory twice. Will only reliably cycle ball ammo and a very short list of SD ammo: Hornady Critical Defense, Federal Guarddog, and Remington Ultimate Defense Compact. I bought it for CC but I don't trust it so it's primarily a range queen.

By contrast, my Kahr CM9 is "my gun I'm most impressed with." It eats anything, has a smooth Kahr triger, shoots accurately, and makes an awesome pocket carry gun.

Ever consider it might be YOU that can't shoot and not the gun? I've owned quite a few snubbies from Rossi to Smith and Wesson and have yet to meet the snubby that can't but five shots into 3" off the bench from 25 yards consistently. With practice, one can run the 8" plates with a snubby at 25 yards off hand about as fast as with a service length revolver. Hell, I have a Kel Tec P11. That thing puts 10 rounds into 3.5" to POA at 25 yards. It's a service gun in a pocket. :D

It ain't the arrow, it's the Indian.

XDs in 45. After two trips to Springfield, and a lot of work and expense on my part, it never ran. Dumped it for a G36 and couldn't be happier.
