I am looking to buy a new gun to CC. I have a 42 inch waist and am in a worm climate. I sweat sometimes and am afraid to get a blued gun because of that.
any thoughts?
I have a beer belly that goes in between 40" - 42". My winter carry is an OWB with a Kimber Ultra CDPII under a untucked shirt. Summer time usally means shorts and a pocket mouse.............PPK, Colt Mustang or a Model 21.
Anything I want. The Clothes make the man here! Here are some pictures of the CCW vests I own. My wife is modeling them. I am NOT selling them or working for the company... I just like them!
JD0608: Just Google the brand names and see what kinda price ya can get.
As to my bride, we have been married 27 years as of 7:30 PM today. I have NO Idea how she puts up with me! I will tell ya, she is MUCH better with a pistol than I am too! I suck these days, but at my best, I was pretty good but she was/is better on aimed target type shooting.
I'm large enough so that I don't like to carry IWB. I carry a Airweight J frame in my front pocket. At only 15 oz. I can carry all day without a problem. That is best for me. give it a try, you will probably like it... In the winter the same revolver in the same pocket holster gets transferred to my coat pocket.
No waist carry for me as I am two big round - you got some grow'n to do to catch up.
I pocket carry a small frame snub revolver. 13oz's of Taurus to be exact, in titanium and .32mag caliber. Works great for me anyway, and low maintenance - I do use a pocket holster most of the time.
For a small, cheap, easily concealable revolver, don't forget the NAA Mini in .22 mag. Is it as powerful as a .357? No. Would I want to get shot by one? Heck No!!!
You can get one for less than $300 with a cylinder for .22 mag and .22 LR
I weigh 185 wear size 40, and live in Arizona, (think Satan's vacation spot) and although I do not currently do so now, I have carried a Taurus 605 (.357mag) in the front pocket.
What I do carry is a Kahr MK9 in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster, although I've given more than one thought to pulling the revolver out of the safe again!!
I carry a 296 or 642 in a Mika's pocket holster. The 296 fits ~75% of my pants - mainly cargo & jeans, the 642 so holstered fits everything. I wear 44 pants.
I know all about fat guy carry, I'm 6' and 250 pounds. I typically carry an XD45 compact IWB but this is really only an option in colder climates. For the rest of the year I carry a P232 and I'm buying a P3AT soon for pocket carry.
They say IWB doesn't work for fat guys but I prefer to just carry at around the 4 or 5 o'clock position
I'm 6'3'' and weigh in at 260 and have found that Comp-tac's 2 O'Clock carry works well for me. It is kydex and keeps my SP-101 away from my sweaty body.
Portly 65 year old, I gave up on IWB carry and now carry S&W 642, S&W 640 or Taurus 85UL DAO in a pocket holster. I had my RF pockets all reinfoced and lengthened where neccessary and have no problem with it. I usually carry 640 in winter when I can wear suspenders under a sweater.
Surefire G36 and 2 Bianchi speed strips in left pocket and I have a weapons system!
I have a question which may be useful info for the OP, has anyone ever had a problem pocket carrying a J-frame sized revolver with an exposed hammer, or do they carry just fine with careful consideration?
Well, I think I may be nearly as tall lying down as I am standing up, so, I think I qualify. I pocket carry and it is very comfortable. I have either a KT P32 or a S&W 642 with me.
