Been carrying 40 years over 20 different guns. The one I have carried the most is a Charter Arms Undercover 38spl. I recently purchased a Kahr PM 40 w/lazer sight and am starting to carry it most of the time. Definitely snappy, but controllable! Everyone loves the "big" guns, 357s, 45 governments, 44 mags and I have carried them, but damn, they get heavy at the end of the day! GF has a Smith 637 airweight that I bought her, and that is a great little gun. Be safe out there.

Open carried as a security guard:

Taurus 83
Dan Wesson 15-2 both 4" and 6"
S&W 28 6+1/2"

Handguns I've carried? Great Scott...how much time do you have? I can't remember them all over the years. I do remember my first centerfire handgun was a Charter Arms Off Duty 38 snub. I was the only person who could shoot straight with it. I changed around a lot over the years....

I haven't carried a lot of different guns over the last 20 years.

I started out with a Llama .32. It should be self explanatory why I moved on.

I moved to a S&W model 915 that I really liked. That is probably the one gun I regret selling but for some reason I couldn't hit a horse in the ass with that gun if I was sitting in the saddle.

I briefly carried an RIA 1911 until my wife said I should buy a .40 because it was cheaper than .45ACP

I bought a CZ75B in .40 S&W that I carried for years.

Then I picked up a S&W 6906 that I just never liked but it was easier than the CZ to carry.

About the same time I picked up the 6906 I got a really good deal on a S&W 4006 and I decided to retire the CZ entirely and carry the 2 similar guns. After a while I decided to just carry the 6906.

Then I had some issues with the 6906 in training and decided to only carry striker fired pistols.

I sold off every handgun I owned except the 4006 and bought an M&P Shield and an M&P 9 and I ended up trading the Shield for a M&P9C. And I carried the M&P9 in public and the 9C at home.

About a year ago I sold the M&P9C and bought a Glock 19 that I carry at home and in public.

I also carried an M&P40 at work because that's what my employer issued.

Ok, what is up with all you guys (not everybody, but a bunch) that have no GARBAGE on your list? Is this like being asked to show pictures of all the girls you've hooked up with and leaving off the less than attractive ones? Y'all being honest, here?

I'll tell the truth - I've carried a BUNCH of different guns and a couple of them barely qualified as "guns" :)

An EAA/FIE 22 auto comes to mind, so does some other junk'a'matic 22 that I can't even remember the brand of. OTOH, I did carry a couple 22's (when I was younger) that were real quality (DP 52) but, I'll admit there were a couple "what was I thinking" guns on my list.

Currently - CZ P01 or Sig P250 (depending on where I am) but soon to be CZ P10 or Walther PPQ (leaning towards the P10)

My approach is to carry one primary gun, all seasons. For the first ten years, I carried a Sig P229 in .40S&W with a Comp-tac CTAC Kydex IWB holster. The current gun in the second half of twenty years of carrying has been a 4.25" 1911 in 10mm with a Brigade M-11 leather IWB holster.

See no reason to change from the 10mm, it was custom built to my specs. Likely to be the one for now on.

Smith model 19 open carry back in the day while riding 3-wheelers.
Browning HP9mm
NAA . 22lR
Seecamp .32acp
Walther PPK .380
Smith 640
Sig P290RS

I have carried a few both in uniform and plainclothes and some off duty the best as i remember.
remington 1911 45 while an M.P.
Colt trooper .357 at start of civilian LEO (fire pin broke at range in the academy had to trade it for a ruger security six as had no money back then)
Charter arms .38 spl purchase for off duty and back up
colt D/S as upgrade from the charter
s&w mod 60 to replace D/S when i was moved to narcotice (it was a litter thinner)
Beretta 92 first department issued weapon i had
Colt combat commander .45 (for undercover work word got out local narcs were carrying berettas)
Sig 2340 in .357 sig (new sheriff and he like that round)
NAA .22lr (found myself in a bar with someone i sent to prison for selling meth everything was cool but told myself i would never be without a gun again)
S&w 642 I began missing the snubs
Kel tec P32 gift from girl friend (now wife) still carry when i'm walking or just running to the store
Ruger LC9 was purchased to replace the 642 but still carry the 642 sometimes (really have a love hate relationship with snubs)
Last is a Beretta 92 inox only carried a few time but go with me on out of town trips and bed side gun i really like the platform.

Started with a Rugar security6 357 in 1976 that lasted until it was stolen 1979
Found my first and still favorite Blackhawk 45 I’ve worn out 3
1991-1994 Blackhawk 44mag. 1995 another 45 discovered hot loads yay! Pore little 44mag You didn’t get your Wheaties !
2004 tried a 357 Tarus 85 snub wasn’t a good fit.Back to the 45
2017 this year I’m likely to be carrying a Coonan or a PMR30 but the Blackhack is never far away
Plus a 22mag NAA Pug or somthing like it has been some where on me since the early 90’s Its my never be awake with out it gun

It has only been 6 weeks since I posted, and I made another change (or change back)...

My order for criteria for a defensive pistol is: 1) reliability, 2) how well you shoot it, 3) capacity, 4) pretty much everything else

I shoot CZ 75B and 1911 type pistols better than anything else (with revolvers being in 3rd place). So, I recently have started practicing my draws with a safety until I get proficient again with disabling the safety on the draw every time. I will soon put 1911s back into my carry selection. I'll drop my SIG P250 Compact since it is a bit thicker than my 1911s but otherwise roughly the size of a Commander sized 1911 (and my smaller S&W M&P40c has 1 better capacity while being even smaller), and I'll probably be trading it (maybe on another 1911) since I bought it for practical reasons and not as a range gun. I do shoot the P250 Compact reasonably well, just no where near as well as a 1911 or CZ, and I do enjoy it at the range, just not as much as other guns that I do keep as range guns. In addition to my S&W 1911SC for carry, I have put a Rock Island Rock 1911 Compact on layaway. I've also decided that since how well I shoot comes before capacity (but capacity is important) I need to train both for mag reloads more than I used to and to use a backup.

So, while transitioning (until I'm confident in my ability to disable the safety on a 1911 every time I draw):
  • SIG P250 Compact, though I'm phasing it out and will cease to use it after the CZ and S&W are fully in the "rotation" (the other transition guns will still be used from time to time after the transition while the P250 won't)
  • SIG P290RS
  • CZ P01 (after one more range trip)
  • S&W M&P40c (after a few hundred rounds are through it)
  • S&W 625MG for a outdoor/woods/camping gun and once or twice a year when in the mood for a revolver over an auto

What I envision my regular and ongoing carry selection will be for the next several years (until/unless there is another "carry philosophy" change):
  • My main carries will be my S&W 1911SC and the RIA 1911CS with either a couple mags for reload or a backup
  • CZ P01 when I want more capacity or the mood strikes
  • S&W M&P40c and SIG P290RS when I need a smaller gun or the mood strikes (these may eventually be replaced by a .40S&W EMP and a 1911 style mini-9 in order to minimize the number of completely different platforms I use)
  • Revolver (my S&W 625MG and eventually a 3" S&W 686 Plus) for a outdoor/woods/camping gun and once or twice a year when in the mood for a revolver over an auto

For occasional backup use:
  • My LCP for now, though it will eventually be traded on a Colt Mustang or SIG P238
  • I will probably keep either my Taurus 85CH or S&W 442 as an occasional BUG
So, eventually I may be down to different sizes of 3 platforms for all uses, including BUGs (1911, CZ, revolver), which will even simplify my carry choices while maximizing my options to cover the most situations.

Ruger Blackhawk .357, 4 5/8". Very practical for hiking and camping in lion/bear country.
Ruger Bisley Vaquero, .45 Colt, 5 1/2". Ditto above, with better downrange whack.
RIA 1911, .45 ACP, 5". Having been convinced that lions and bears didn't want to eat me, I switched to something more suitable for human aggression.
Today I purchased a Ruger LC9s, 9MM. I intend this to be my EDC pistol. Will fire it tomorrow.

I have carried:

Colt M357 (same as the Python but without the cosmetics) in Viet Nam. Served two customers.
Remington Rand M1911A1 in Viet Nam.
Argentine M1927 (same as the US M1911A1 but made in Argentina, on Colt machinery under Colt supervision,)
Colt Police Positive .38 Special
Kimber Custom Classic (basic M1911 style)
Colt Detective Special.

Seems like no one can make their mind. .357 mag LCR from day one. Don't want confusion if ever it is needed.

I'm only going to include my "modern" "legal" carry list.

Too big and bulky list:
G26, P229, M&P 9c, PT145, 642

My three near perfect CCW's now ; Shield, LCP, G2

The Shield and LCP are easily the only sidearms one ever needs for CC here in the states.

Colt SAA in .44-40 and 1911. The revolver was temporary decades ago. I did dally with a Kel-Tec P3AT as a backup gun for a short time. That didn't last six months.
