Accessories, what are accessories? I figure the designers made the gun the way it should be. I might change the grips but so far that is it (I'd be open to night sights too). Of course, those who want to hang all kinds of toys off their guns, more power to you, just not for me. Heck, doesn't adding all that bulk to a handgun kind of defeat the purpose of a handgun (small, concealable or carriable, more easily handled than a long gun), seems to make more sense if you must put junk on your gun to use a carbine or shotgun.

I guess in terms of which gun has the most potential to have stuff added onto it, the winner would be the 1911...from new triggers, sights, grips, internal parts, etc. etc!

Well, I think you mean all the external doodads, fads and gimmicks...lasers. redots, suppressors, whitelights, 30 round magazines, grenade launchers, side mounted tasers darts, and tissue dispenser.
Yeah, the AR wins the rifle that can be fitted with the most crap award.
I am thinking the HK Socom for the pistol that can hold the most extraneous caca. But just wait till they put side rails on the slide of that baby! Then you can add more stuff!!
If your thought patterns include internal parts and modifications...then the 1911 wins over all.....dot sights, laser grips, sound suppressors, barrels, mags, internal, white lights, the OOS darts of WWII non fame, 22 conversion units, 38 super slides, 400 corbon, 460 rowland, grips out the wazoo, sights galore, .....most of it unecessary. But no handgun is more user customizable than the 1911.
The more complications, the more likley something is gonna fail. And combat is not a good place to have something fail!!
A cousin loves reddots! I cannot count how many times we have gone to the boonies to shoot and one of his reddots batteries died. Rendering the weapons dang near useless(unless we take off the reddot and use iron...oh no, sacriledge!! Blasphemy!). A gun with no doodads? Perish the thought.
I carry a simple handgun......when I feel life is gonna get interesting, I get a simple rifle. Reliability first. Power and accuracy next.
With the state of the art AR's, you can trim a gnats eyebows at 100 meters.....when everything, including the platform (and shooter)works.
But few of us are Delta Operators, Seal Meateaters or Recon Commando's. Few of use are gonna encounter an enraged horde of mass attack. Some of the gismo's are useful for clearing caves and crackhouses, dealing with a mass charge of multiple targets by yourself, but most of it is junk.
But, according to some, a gun with alot of crap...looks cool. And if looks could kill........
