What has happened to THR

I have also not been here in quite some time.....found that the new format does not care for chrome.....IE, Edge, Firefox all just fine, but with Chrome I can't always put in a reply.

Strange because I am using Chrome and no issues at all with replies. There has to be a setting in there somewhere. I have also used MSIE and Firefox without a problem. All of those browsers on both Windows 7 and Windows 10. I also tried Android on my phone and tablet gizmo, both seem to work fine. I do recall once before missing the reply in Chrome in a forum but I have forgotten the fix or what I did. Electronics forum years ago.

Quick question Derek. I have been a contributing member for 2 or 3 years (can't remember, too many hits to the head over the years). Are we still going to be able to do that with the new software?
Yep. But that involves installing new payment software, and choosing how to pay, and so on. Quick background: Paypal was antigun so I used the best choice of the options that vBulletin supported. They take 30% or so. Paypal is easy but people don't like it. Do I get a Square account? Accept Bitcoins? Whatever it is will need to be automated, and there's quite a bit of research and thinking there.

I've been using Chrome primarily on two computers and haven't run into any issues. I know Chrome can be weird with some software as far as rendering Javascript, but I haven't seen any issues with this particular piece of software.

There are several features that I would omit if I had my druthers, but the dust won't settle for a good while I'm sure.

Anyway...

When I'm not logged in, I'm getting a number of '403 Access Denied' errors when trying to access certain media or member profiles. I'm assuming this is tied to privacy settings?

Regarding 'Notable Members', I see that rcmodel and his 59k+ posts is not listed atop. I first guessed that's because the software doesn't include inactive members, but there are a number of inactive members on the 'Notable Members' list that have been inactive longer than rcmodel.

The list also shows a few members with tens of thousands in post count, but they are labeled 'New Member'.

Just tested this. Yep, privacy setting denies access to visitors who are not logged in.
Yeah, but I wish it said something like "I'm sorry, but you'll need to log in to see that." It's probably a configuration issue, but I haven't figured it out yet.

It's a well known fact that old men resist change even when it's for the best. At first I thought ***, but have since come to my senses and I kind of like it. Thanks administrator!

For everyone asking about the post count:
On the bottom left-hand side of your screen you should see text that says "default style". Click on that and change it to "THR Test". Colors will change and post count, or messages as it is known on this software, will appear.

I'm not seeing that option on my PC running Google Chrome.

If I go into user options, it only allows this: Untitled_zpsi446hljf.jpg

The bottom left-hand side of the screen I see looks like this:

Well, it's pretty straightforward: Google has been penalizing us for years because:
  • We were running vBulletin 3.8.x, we didn't want to upgrade to the newer branches, and Google assumed old software = malware vector
  • We were essentially delisted from mobile search because we didn't have a mobile-friendly skin. We couldn't add one under the old software
So we shopped around, decided on this software about a year ago, did lots of testing, and migrated over the weekend. This is here to stay.

The look and feel is still being worked on though - the staff member who is a graphic designer unfortunately has a day job, so it'll probably be a few days. The Test THR style is the one that's being tweaked.
I understand the change but don't like the

I have to say that I don't care for the new layout. I guess I'm use to all the other forums I visit and find them easier. Maybe it's just muscle memory. The new forum just looks kinda cheap IMHO.

Is anyone else having trouble logging in on the Tapatalk app?
Tapatalk isn't installed, and odds are it won't be.

There are a few folks who are quite upset about this, but from the perspective of a forum owner getting away from Tapatalk is something I'm really happy about.

If you're just looking for mobile access this software does that really well. If you're looking for one central place to access all the forums you visit, then you'll be disappointed. :(

That explains a lot! Thanks for the information

I like it. Now I can find all the pictures I posted....lol

Another forum I'm on went to this same format and I appreciate that too.
