What has happened to THR

After a few more days of use, I have to say that I really, really dig this new format. Composing posts with the rich text editor so much easier.

The latest olive/green/brown color scheme is now a LOT easier on the eyes than the stark blue/white. This is coming along very nicely.

It might be a misperception (?), but it seems like the posting traffic has not been as high as usual. I hope folks haven't been discouraged/scared off by the new format.

It took me a few times coming back and try to get used to the new setup but, I think I finally got it. The best thing is I didn't have to adopt a 8 year old to teach me how.

I hope not. Unfortunately I'm not seeing a way to pull data from before the migration, but it's been reasonably consistent since then:

That would be like refusing to sleep with your wife because she dyed her hair. It's the same place, same outstanding members.

I, for one, continue to be quite happy with THR. Truly, The High Road. Keep doing your thing, mods.

I like the new software, especially since I usually browse from my phone. I'm a graphic designer by education with some background in front end, particularly CSS. I'm pretty busy at work right now myself, but once things slow down if we have a list of things that need looked at I'm happy to volunteer my time.

Thanks for this move. Improves log-in security.
Glad you like it. Soon we're going to be https:// only, but the logs show we have someone who visits THR for 20 minutes a day on an IE6 machine, so I'm going to try and put out warnings first. IE6 can't process modern certs, apparently.

I'm really appreciative of the way post quoting is handled in the new software. You don't have to remember to check the box to show the quote, and the "fading" of long quotes is really nice.

I don't fully understand it but if the software gets to old it becomes incompatible with newer software. Like trying to bolt a carburetor on a fuel injected engine. It just won't work. Now that it has a better background, white is tough on old eyes, it looks good.

Good job guys!!!

on an IE6 machine

Wonder if that's Hillary's email server tech. :)

Newer SSL/TLS certs use the bigger SHA-256 signature. Old browsers didn't allocate enough room to hold them.

He/she will have to upgrade eventually as the push for "Encryption Everywhere" continues.

This move to HTTPS also helps make some attacks more difficult. I'm actually surprised firearms forums haven't been hit harder by anti-gun hacker zealots.

Thanks again.

Okay the retro color scheme with the new functions and look are a home run!! Keep it this way. Its familiar and updated at the same time!

Yeah, the green is back. This color scheme is much better than it was last week.

It's a lot better than that awful new format everyone else is going to. No trying to quickly tap "exit enhanced mode" button before the page loads.

Thank you guys for putting in the work.
