This came with a scale I ordered on eBay. The seller did not know
what it was and just put it in with the scale Picture 28.jpg

Not for a scale. One end appear to have a 0.250" diameter end and the other is a 0.310" end. Barrel land check tool?
Brownness' might know what it is.

Could be a "pin" gage with multiple pins. However the scribling doesn't seem to match the apparent sizes.

I have gages that are made like the part in the picture. They are old enough to be called 'go-not go' as in will go and will not go. The end with the two diameters could be used for alignment.

More information about it

the center peace has the number 16 stamped in it

on the center peace someone printed 153" & 310" with a arrow pointing at the stepped end

250" is printed on it and an arrow is pointing at the other end.

Also the center peace has a set screw in it so the center will slide
up and down on the center peace.

Go-No Go gauge for die cast parts? For testing two different holes at a set depth? I don't know.

I was going to say that it’s a “go – no go” gauge, but .250 to .310 is to big a range. Could be go – no go for depth (Case length gauge?). Or it may not have anything to do with firearms.
