Just found out that this week:

-Of course the horrible VT massacre (April 16th)
-Anniversary of the Waco tragedy (April 19th)
-Anniversary of the Columbine shooting (April 20th)
-Anniversary of the Oklahoma Federal building bombing (April 19th)

Bravo is now airing Bowling for Columbine and AMC is showing Red Dawn.

How appropriate.

Good grief.

Don't forget Australia's Port Arthur Massacre. Does seem a bit coincidental, eh?

Biker

Hitler's B-Day was the 20th.

Holy cow--did I just Godwin the thread?

edit: the Wikipedia oracle says that Port Arthur was the 28th.

I think maybe we should move spring break to the week of April 16 to April 20 and just close the schools for the week.

Spring is hard on people with mental disorders, for reasons I don't fully understand. Some folks have said that it's hard to accept the renewal of life, the newness of creation, the fact that people are moving on and some are still stuck in their problems. "April is the cruellest month..."

Don't forget Holocaust Survivors day was this week also. Was very ironic that one professor died this week.

Nor should one forget that the Battles of Lexington and Concord were fought during this calender week (on this date actually), and some sources cite this same date as the beginning of the final battle of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1943.

If one is inclined to metaphysical thinking, this time period is one of change when the forces of the universe are balanced on a knife edge and things can still go either way. We are well into spring, but winter can still visit with a vengeance.

Thanks, 98C5.

Of course, I lack the patience to find out what tragedies, disasters, and otherwise bad stuff happened in other months, and there are only 365 days in any given year to have things happen on, but setting the math aside, it's a little creepy anyway.

Edit: And Sindawe makes a good point that there is plenty of good stuff that has happened in April, too.

If I recall correctly, McVeigh deliberately timed his attack to coincide with Patriot's Day.. and possibly Waco, can't recall.

The others... yeesh. Danged if I know.
