I'm primarily a predator and varmint hunter and, of the sixteen varmint/predator rifles I own this one is my favorite. Its a Cooper Model 38 custom classic in .218 Mashburn Bee caliber:
I own a lot of guns.
Call me crazy, but I have a Finn M39 that out shoots my K31. I love that rifle.
But for shooting cans with the kids, nothing beats the old Marlin 39A. Just something about the mechanical action of a Lever 22 that makes it so much fun to shoot.
Today is Saturday June 21st 2014, the first day of summer where I am so today it would be my M1A. Tomorrow is Sunday so it would be one of the M1 Garands I have and I think Monday will be maybe the AR10[T]. Not really sure about Monday yet. Maybe Monday I'll switch to a more traditional hunting rifle.
Threads like this can be difficult for me because what I just posted is true. My entire life I have always had a love affair with rifles. While a few shotguns have passed through my life I don't even own one today.
All time favorite rifle is just a tough question as all time in my case has (fortunately) been a long time. A gun safe stuffed with rifles and I still can't manage to choose a favorite. Pretty sad huh?
Of the rifles I currently own, my 77/357 is currently my favorite. May not win any beauty contests, but that little 'carnival gun' (wife coined the term while in the store to pick it up) is damned fun to shoot and easy to tote around.
Too tough to say. Marlin 60, marlin 336, 1903a3 m14rem700 all are in the running, but on this one I'm going DEEP for my response, Red Ryder BB gun that started my obsession. I have worn 8 of them out to date and no, they do not make them like they used to. They now are weak and last at best 2 years. My first lasted from my 8th birthday through middle school. After that it has been a downhill slide. I'm 29 so that puts me at around 2.5 years per gun on average but the ones from the early 90s were great.
So many ways to answer, each pointing to a different rifle. For the sake of answering, my Marlin 25N. That plain, cheap, ugly rimfire shoots better than it ought to for the price and has made itself a constant companion.
Not sure if a 9mm CX4 counts as a 'rifle', but I adore it.
Really like my Garand, CZ 527, and Henry lever action. My AR is so-so and doesn't see much range time. Considering I can cast and reload for less than the cost of 22lr, it makes the CX4 even more appealing. I have to buy 'spensive rifle powder and tips for the AR.
