Have you considered a High Point? Just kidding your post stated medium sized pistols. I would also like to vote for the CZ PCR.

The P225, P239, CZ PCR/P01, HK P7M8 and Walther P5 are all excellent medium-sized handguns. The Glock 19, however, is very hard to beat as a "jack of all trades" medium-sized fighting handgun.

Walther P-99.

No, wait... SIG P-225.

No, I mean Walther P-99.

No, SIG P-225.

No, Walther P-99.

(Ad infinitum...)

hartzpad, what do you have on your M9's grip and where did you get it? The only thing I don't like about my M9 is the grip feels a little too slick, but your set-up looks like the perfect solution. Is it a Hogue Handall grip?

Oh. and even though I like my M9 alot, I like my SIG P225 better and that's what I would recommend.

9mm size comparison

Hi Albanian,

My figures show the pistols you listed as:

L W H Wt
Glock 19 6.85 1.18 5.00 23.00
Walther P 99 7.00 1.20 5.37 25.00
CZ PCR 7.20 1.40 5.30 27.20

Hope this is helpful.

Be well,

CZ 75 P-01. Everything else is hogwash. :D

CZ P-01 Gets NATO approved.

All of this plus a 14+1 round capacity. Full capacity mags are inexpensive as well. I got 5 full cap mags for less than $15 shipped each.

I have almost 900 rounds through this one with only three ammo related problems. Dang the cheap WWB value pack from Wally-World.

Man I love that little dude.

Agreed, browneu: the CZ-75 PCR is the most comfortable and natural pointing gun in the world. At least many of us see it that way.

I had to sell mine, though; the reason being that it just didn't hold its own in a reliablility test which my SIG P-225 and Walther P-99 passed with flying colors. Too many FTFs.

I wouldn't knock the make and model of it simply on account of my own particular gun's failure to perform up to standard, but I tried almost everything to get it to work right, and nothing seemed to do the trick.

Alas, for it was a real beauty. :(

As for the survivors, well... all I can say is that they are my only two remaining pistols in that caliber. The two 9mms that I'll keep for sure, and the two that I'll root for on this thread.

The mags are a little secret. But, if you don't tell anyone I guess I can tell you.

The mags are for a compact CZ in .40 S&W. CZ drew up specs on this pistol but never manufactured it. Promag is the only place I know of that make mags for this the compact .40. The magazines hold 14 rounds of 9mm and all have worked perfectly with absolutely no modification. I bought mine from Natchez Shooter Supply. They get them in stock once in a while but they don't last but a day or so and they are sold out. Midwest Tactical also gets them in stock once in a while. These mags will work in the 75B compact, PCR, and P-01.

I originally bought 5 from Natchez and three from Midwest Tactical and all 8 functioned perfectly. I sold three to a member on CZforum.

nero45acp, it's a Hogue hand all grip. It makes a world of different in the feel of the grip. They are always a little slick when your palm sweats, so it's the perfect solution. Also, I have rather large hands, so the slip on grip made the grip just a little larger for myself. Some people save their money and use a piece of bicycle tire tube stretched over the grip, same effect.

I'm one of those cheapskates that used a innertube, and I must say it worked very well.

As far as a med sized handgun I would have to recommend the Steyrs, they fit me better than anything.

One the other hand I have a P239 that is a very good carry piece but it doesn't aim for me like the Steyr does. Also I'm needing to sell it to by a camera for school this fall, so if your are interested look here.

I must say I absolutely love my CZ PCR... I've had several smallish to medium to full size 9mms and I think the PCR is my favorite. A 9mm 1911 would come close as would a BHP but they are both larger.

I also loved my Kahr P9 Covert. I was wanting to get one of the larger Kahr TP9s and I still may at some point but other than being a tad thick, the PCR fills the role so nicely, I decided not to bother for now.

I like both the CZ75B and the BHP. Both point great and are real accurate, but, they would qualify as full size, not medium size right?

The four you originally listed;

1. Kahr P-9
2. SIG 239
3. SIG 225
4. Glock 19

are all good ones. to this list I would add Sig P228, H&K USP Compact, and CZ P-01

rare but can be ordered

i have a courgar "L"...if you can find one try it...all beretta controls

I'm very happy with my SIG P239.

Some superb guns here. But I think you left out the S&W 3913. (I think that is the right number, 12 shot 9mm compact). Same controls as your Beretta, but a nice shooting little gun. I see used ones under $300 a lot.

So many different good guns in this category, all of them really different. You might want to just get your hands on as many as possible to see what really suits you.
