I don't consider myself a cheapskate because I do spend a lot of money on guns and ammo but for some reason I can't bring myself to pay over $700
for a single gun or accessory.

I have spent over $700 in one day but got 2 guns and a bunch of reloading
stuff to show for it.

The one time I spent $700 on a single gun it was a SPAS 12 and it was on layaway for 4 months.

So I guess $700 is my limit what is yours?

I have $350.00 as my limit for shooters. I have paid over $800-900.00 for something I really have a desire for.

Where's the "It depends" answer?

If the money was available & we felt like spending that much on a firearm then the limit changes. Right now I can't see spending more than $500 or so on any one particular weapon, but if a screaming good deal (once in a lifetime type of stuff) came along tomorrow that could conceivably go right out the window.

That said, most of my purchases recently have been about $100 or less (to many C&R rifles out there at the moment).

i was gonna say $600...but but but then i saw this never owned desert eagle sitting on the shelf all shiny and pretty. and given that i'm in maryland where desert eagles and most other new guns have been banned since 1/1/03....well the checkbook came out.

but after bringing it home and fondling it, this genie was all :D

The most I have paid for one piece is for my Para Carry since around $700 was acceptable to me. But I think I would be willing to pay up to around $1000 for something I really want, like a Kimber Eclipse. Just have to get around to it, I just think about what I could buy instead... a Witness and a Beretta Storm, or a Thompson, or Garand. Anything much over $1000, and I feel it's not worth it. Custom is nice, but production custom is fine with me! :D

My wife spent more for her rifle than I ever have. It was what she wanted. Firearms aren't like groceries. Shop, try, look and try to get what you want the first time. I guess the reason we have so many is we don't follow out own advice.

No upwards limit if there's something I really want, but I do try to save money. I'll dumpster-dive, trade for parts or accessories, build or modify my own guns, etc. One thing I never do is try to save money by purchasing inferior hardware.

Uh, I'm saving up for one of the dozen or so Transferable Vulcan Cannons. ~$100k if you can find one for sale.

I like getting my monie's worth, but have no problem paying for a quality piece. I'd rather have fewer good guns, than a bunck of junk. I can only shoot one at a time anyway!

So, uh, yeah, option #1 I guess :)

What ever it takes. If I need to spend $1200 on another DCM AR-15, so be it. No big deal. Although the one I have may get shot out and rebuilt many times during its service-life (which I figure will add up to way over the $2500 top limit! :D ).

Most I ever spent was $400 for a Carl Gustaf Mauser. But, my current object of lust is a Ruger No.1B in 6mm Remington. Best I've seen it for (new anyway) is $575+ship+FFL transfer ($610 total from my FFL). But, of course I'd then need a scope, ammo, and probably a few other accessories, so I'd be pushing mighty close to $1K if not over by the time all was said and done. Pissed me off though at the last gun show. A guy had 2 of these rifles (in 6mm), one was, he thought, unfired for $575, and the other was used, but still probably 95% for $475. I didn't have the money for either rifle at the time or I would have bought one of them (probably the 95% one, becuase I'm a cheap bastard). :fire:

No Limit

If I can afford it and want it I buy it. There are plenty of weapons I'd like to own, but the bank account says different.

To this point that has only been $1400 on a single firearm, however there have been a few multi gun purchases that have totaled over $2k.

I usually stay under $550 if at all possible.

Heck, it takes me 2 months to save up that much.

Cant get rich serving in the military. Especially being enlisted;)

The most I have ever spent on a single firearm is $4,000.

If I paid that much for something, and the wife found out, I better be able to live in it.

I debated between the <$1000 or the unlimited and decided on the <$1000. I'm a cheapskate. I love guns but somehow the thought of spending more than a $1000 on one just rubs me the wrong way.

To me guns are tools to be used for self defense or entertainment at the range. A $2000 dollar pistol may be more accurate and maybe even more reliable than a $700 one but is that little bit of improvement worth $1300 - not to me.

And I've never been one to get something just because it has oooh ahhh appeal or everyone else is getting one or it's a limited edition and only a few hundred will be made - I leave that kind of stuff to the suckers.

There may come a day when I see a gun I want enough that I'd pay more than a $1000 but it hasn't been made yet.

$1500.00 tops. I just can't justify spending anymore. Used to be $800.00 but I'm out of school now and have a "real" job. I've never bought a gun for $1500.00 but I am considering a couple now that cost right around that much. To date the most I ever have spent is $1100.00.

Well, unless it was something REALLY special, and for a good price, I probably wouldn't go over $750. I can easily afford to go higher, it's just that psychologically I have a problem spending more than that for anything. Guns, cars, appliances, houses. :)

Hmmmm. I've never spent more than $550 at one time, so that's my answer. I've gone barely over that on a layaway item. I did spend over $700 total to build my AR but that was in dribs and drabs over time.
