Well, I've been wondering about this for a while now.

Over at Cabela's in KCK, there is an AK that runs for $1700. It is just a semi.

It is a Kassnar Import Hungarian 7.62 X 39 AK-47. Here's the link.http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/content/community/gun_inventory/inventory/kansas_city/miscellaneous/630509a_kassnarak_kc.jsp?hierarchyId=20005

What justifies this price? I've never heard of an AK this expensive, especially not Saigas, which are from the original manufacturer of the AK.

Why is it so high?

Who would buy this when you could have at least two plain- Jane ARs for the same price?

Extremely rare pre 94 import.
This is a collector rifle not really intended as a shooters rifle any longer. HTH

I'm not real big on the under folding stocks, but I wouldnt have any problem shooting it. :)

I've seen Chinese AKs approaching that price (think $1200 was the highest I've seen) for the same reason -- no longer imported and now collectible.

Plus, the fact that it was at Cabela's. I find that Cabela's tends to ask higher than normal prices on their used firearms.

- Hungarian import and not a domestic build from a receiver.
- Has all the naughty features minus the happy switch.
- Imported by Kassnar (typically nice guns from what I've seen).
- Underfolder.
- Rare.
- Excellent condition (looks mint to me).
- Cabelas.

Searching around for others like this, seems like $1000+ is the going rate.

Cabelas is a strange animal. Prices are all over the board. I bought a new/unissued Yugo SKS from them for $139, which was very reasonable. But they want $200 for a Mosin-Nagant. I dont know anybody that would spend that on a MN.

That is a really nice AK, though.

Yeah... that is a nice AK. I got to look at it. Felt more like an AR than an AK, very tight weapon. Why doesn't everyone put wood like that on their AKs?

what's so special?
Cabela's pricing.

I've seen some grossly overpriced stuff at cabelas. If its good enough for their 'gun library' expect to pay out the nose for it.
