What kind of grips do you like

As a second set to your favorite guns, do you like a rubber set, like Hogue, a tacticle set like VZ, or a burled wood set like Sarge makes. I prefer the Burled wood on my high end guns, I think it makes them look even nicer, but certain 1911's look great with a set of g10's on them, and we mustn't forget function. My last set, I got from Sarge at "Elite", and people stop and stare at them, they are beautiful, I just inquired abot a multi color set of"polyester" grips he's making for the new little Sigs, for my EMP.He will accomadate as usual. If you want a really nice grip. Try his oversized "handlers", they cover the entire grip surface and really allow you to get a perfect hold on your gun, I would go as far as to say,I shoot it better with them. What is your ideal grip.

Generally, pebbled rubber (i.e. Hogue) from a practical/ergo standpoint, wood for looks.

Its funny, when I started buying handguns in the 1980s, I always bought rubber (Pachmyer of Hogue) grips for all my guns, even in a .32 Walther. Now as I have aged, I like wood grips.

Don't give me plastic.

Never tried aluminum.

For looks - wood. For feel - I'm as comfortable with wood or plastic. I specifically don't like the feel of rubber grips though. They give the gun a "sticky" feel that I just don't care for.

I could never get over the fact that although I love the feel of Hogue's rubber grips, I hate the looks. So I stiple them.

Alumagrips aren't for every gun but I love them on my BHP. I like wood grips with texture over smooth. Smooth wood slips during recoil when sweaty.

I like the looks of an attractive wood grips but prefer to shoot neoprene grips like Pachmayrs.

I generally prefer wood over rubber as long as there is enough texture to keep a good grip- be it checkering on the wood or the actual firearm.

My CCW is a rubber gripped revolver.

I like the Hogue aluminum grips I have on my P220, checkered with a gloss finish. Feels like grabbing a thin square Maglite.

On revolvers, Ahrends grips are all I'll ever buy again.

I love the sticky feel of rubber grips for target shooting, but realize they could be a handicap on a carry piece....

Both 1911's have Gunner grips from Simonich, revolvers have factory wood, pach's or hogues.. Just put a set of pach's on my speed-six, made a big difference. Wood grips sure look good but the sticky ones have a place, too.

For shooting, thin that makes your hands bleed if they move.
I don't care for rubber.

I prefer a wood grip with double diamonds. For me it's a good compromise between function and looks. Great tactile grip, classic look.

For pure looks, I like a smooth high-gloss wood grip. I've got a pair of desert ironwood grips from Adam (member name Olympus) at Brown's Grips on my blue steel Colt XSE that look fantastic. (I have no affiliation with Adam, just a happy customer.)

I've tried some G-10 grips from Larry Davidson, and while the craftsmanship was top-notch, I could never get the grip screws to stay tight through an entire range session, even a hundred rounds. I tried o-rings and really tightening the grip screws, but the grips would always loosen. On top of that the grips, once loose, removed some of the finish from the frame of my Kimber. Now, I expect that my pistols will show wear and I don't obssess over it, but that bothered me enough to sell the grips.

These are all 1911 grips of course.

On a Colt M1911: wood, preferably the double diamond variety.

On a CZ P-01: wood.

On a SIG Trailside: wood

On a Ruger MK.II: wood

On a Browning Hi-Power: Pachmayrs because they feel the best with that grip shape.

Got introduced to Raasco's Dymondwood (high pressure wood veneer laminate) by a guy on another forum. They were so pretty I just had to order a pair for my Citadel 1911A1CS compact Officer's size .45. They came in this morning, fit absolutely perfect and feel great in the hand. Not cheap, but not that bad either.

These are Camo pattern Dymondwood and they were on sale for $39.95 plus shipping. Took 'em about a week before they shipped them. www.raascogrips.com is the website if I remember right.

I have a plastic gun. I love it but I wish I had a gun with "real" grips too, they turn handguns into works of art.

I dislike rubber grips. They may be useful but they subtract from appearance.

I equally like pretty wood or some other material grips, alum grips, or old plastic (bakelite ? whatever that brown stuff was) grips. They all have their place.

I have sold all my aluminum grips in favor of VZ G-10! Not cold like aluminum, dont loosen up, grippy without being sharp, and dont grab your shirt like rubber for carrying. Best grips out there!
