what load for .308 winchester using hornady sst 165gr.

168 SMK on top of 44.5 gr of Varget does the trick for me in my Tikka .308 Varmint.

I'm loading 44.5 grains of IMR 4895 behind a Nosler 168 gr HPBT and am getting great results. My rifle is a Remmy 700 SPS Tac in .308. Matter of fact, when Widener's had this stuff in stock, I bought 16 lbs of it. I also plan on loading some .223 with it, 55 grain.

hogdon BLC2 is the powder that the cartridge was designed for. somewhere around 41 grains you will find a sweet spot. i did.

My .308 did so well with the RL15 I never got around to trying the Varget. But eventually I will. I've seen lots of good reports on it.

I just picked up some ram shot tac powder but have not reload any ammo with it yet.

I've had extremely good results with this bullet using IMR 4320, H4895, and IMR 4064. My pet load is IMR 4320. Different guns will prefer different powders and different charges. Do some experimenting.
Also... I know it is extremely popular, but I am yet to find a good load with Varget. Just my experience.
