What mods do you do to your Glock?

I have one Glock, a Gen 4 Glock 19 which I purchased before the Gen 5 model came out. It has undergone quite a few modifications.

Frame: I cannot abide the finger bumps on a Gen 3 or 4 Glock 19. They do not fit my hand and worsen my ability to grip the pistol. So the first thing I did was to grind off the finger bumps, undercut the trigger guard, and stipple the smoothed-off front strap with a wood burning gun.

Trigger: I swapped the Gen 4 trigger assembly for a Gen 3 model which did not have the serrated face on the trigger blade. The stock trigger spring was swapped for a NY1 trigger spring. The stock connector was swapped for a Glock factory minus (-) connector. All internal sear and trigger bar contact points were polished along with the firing pin safety plunger.

Sights: I hate the crappy polymer stock Glock sights. I installed a set of Ameriglo Spaulding sights with a blacked out rear notch and a tritium front lamp surrounded by a fluorescent orange ring.

Other modifications: extended take-down lever and extended slide release lever. The slide end plate was replaced with a Tau striker control device for additional safety when reholstering.

The combination of the NY1 trigger spring and the Glock minus connector will add some tactile sense of resistance to the otherwise spongy pretravel phase of the trigger pull. It will add a pound or more to the pull weight of the stock trigger. My trigger breaks at around 6 1/2 lbs with my Lyman gauge positioned where I would usually place my trigger finger on the trigger blade. There is still a good deal of creep at the trigger break. That, unfortunately is built into the design of the Glock trigger.

I like my Glocks pretty much stock. Of course, night sights are good across the board, and I like Talon grips on the g26/27.

Most of my Glocks have had decent triggers when purchased. My most recent Gen 4 Glock 19 FS had a heavy trigger with a creaky break. But every mag made it better, and after the 200 rounds of the first range day, it felt just about like all the others.

Maybe if I had a competition Glock, I would fine tune with mods, but those I still have (G4 30, 19, and 43; I miss my 27) are for carry, and I think the stock trigger appropriate for that use.

I have three Glocks and the only mod I have done to all of them is to shoot the snot out of them until all parts are worn in and working well with one another.
My EDC is a gen 4 G20. I did install the smallest beavertail back strap on it. I also was at a local gun shop last year and one of the guys was installing a set of night sights on one of the stores display guns.
I jokingly said "you could just install them on mine" and he did. He charged me the cost of the sights and no labor, so I let him do it.

I prefer a 3.5 lb trigger on my Glocks so that’s what I do. Added an aluminum mag release to the 43X due to Shield mags but that’s about it for all 5 of mine.

My agency installed a NY++ 12lb. trigger into my gen. 2 1/2 model 26 before I even shot it, so that's what I'm used to.

Never changed it after I retired, and I'm fine with it. Came with Meprolight Tru Dot night sights, but they're practically gone at this point almost 30 years later.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, Meprolight, unlike Trijicon, does not service their old sights with new tritium.

If you watch Amazon, you can usually pick up a set of 9mm Meprolights for about $50-60. They warrant them for 12 years, but I usually replace mine at around 10 years or so, as they are usually pretty dim by then.

If yours are 30 years old, they must have been dead long ago. Time for a new set. :)

You also may want to call Glock. In the past, they were installing a set of factory Glock NS (which I believe are made by Meprolight) for around $60. Just send them the slide.

I've installed NY1 springs in both my G22 and G23. I like them that way. It's easy to do and not at all expensive.

Night sights on my 19 and 34, but not my 17L.
17L got an Apex trigger because the factory one had the blade protrude just enough it was annoying.
That’s it.
Stay safe.

The last couple of Glocks have gotten Ghost “Ultimate” triggers. I believe it’s a 3.5 connector and a heavy trigger return spring. Gives a pretty good Glock trigger. I like them. That and a 25-cent trigger job and sights are all I need. I like Trijicon HDs best. But I can’t afford then on every gun I own. I do like Glock night sights.

To me, part of a 25-cent trigger job is "tuning" the trigger dingus. Just a few minutes with a (dare I say) a Dremel.

And while we are at it, that plastic pin that holds the trigger to the trigger bar. It always seems to catch the side of the frame, Dremel.

Glock 17 , 3 1/2 lb ghost connector , polished the remaining parts , trigger guard undercut , Trijicon suppressor sights , Bar Sto barrel , Compensator , longer slide release , milled slide for Burris fastfire 3 , magwell , but shooting a lot is more important than anything. Rounds should be counted in thousands not hundreds . 64BB53B7-3377-4DF7-9B92-A2DFAFF8816E.jpeg

Maybe something they did for LE only? I've never heard of Trijicon servicing tritium. I would be happy to send them the trijicon sights for my 19, they barely glow at this point. On my 17 I have the blacked out I.C.E Claw rear from the Rob Pincus collab and a trijicon yellow post which is my favorite. It's about 6-7 years old and man it glows like a radioactive moon beam. It's really powerful.

The trigger on the 17L I got had a face that was almost rounded, so the slight bit of protruding blade made it feel really thin. The flat Apex has a great feel.
I need to round the edge of the trigger guard at the undercut on the right side, that’s where GLOCK’s give me a blister after a long day or two in a row at the range.
Stay safe.

Gen 3 G19....... Bone stock except for a set of Trijicon night sights that haven't faded out yet after 8 years. If I ever did anything else to it , then it would be a trigger. But I'm not gonna mess with it myself and am unsure and undecided as to what to do and what to use. Some guys love a certain one, other guys don't. You always hear good and bad about the same stuff. Meanwhile; I can live with the stock trigger even though it could be better.

I only own one now, but I have done a few little things to my 43X:
- Hi-Viz front sight.
- Aluminum mag release for my Shield mags.
- Slight under-cut at the rear of the trigger guard.
- Narrow strips of skateboard tape on front and rear straps.
- Rounded the front/lower corner of the mag release for lefty comfort.
I don't make any permanent mods to my collection guns, but carry guns have to be perfect.

TruGlo sights. The gen5 fixed the finger grooves even though I had no idea how awesome a flat grip was until I tried it. The only other "mod" I do is casting bullets that shoot well and PC if traditional lube doesn't cut it. Then its just replacing springs or the frame when they break.

Yeah I'm pretty happy with glock stock triggers, probably wont fool with it. Just kind of got an itch to try something different.

I had a thread a couple years back about catching brass to the face after about 5k rounds in my 17 and 19. It is the worst with WWB and PMC so I just avoid buying it. It bothers me that the ejection is kind of weak and pattern is random but it still functions and isnt FTF or malfunctioning from a reliability standpoint. I have considered changing the extractor but from what I gather it's a roll of the dice as to whether it will even work and I'm not real jazzed about non-OEM aftermarket extractors at $100+ that might not even solve the problem....
5000 rounds? Just get a OE extractor..about $20...

On my carry guns not much more than sights if that. On my game guns I change a little spring geometry, add two set screws, springs and sights.

One thing I can say about Glocks that don't run, is that they likely have been modified. That's not to say they can't but the #1 cause of troubles in ones I have seen.
