Friend who is in Europe on a college-related trip just showed me this picture of a Czech guard:

Anyone know what kind of rifle this is? All I can tell is that it looks like a single shot because it has no magazine well. Any knowledgeable folks care to identify it? Thanks :)

My google machine tells me it's a modified VZ52 used specifically for ceremonial purposes.

I might be right, or I might be wrong... Anyone else able to back me up or correct me?

Deactivated? Why!?
The Czech have some good stuff; arms and soldiers.

Now the real question: is that your "friend" in the brown dress and it must be hard to just have a friend like that!

Mmmm Pilsner UrQuell, I bet it's a lot better when you get it there.. It's always skunky here.

Buy it in a keg or get a sealed case of the 6 pack containers. It's the UV light going through the green glass that makes it taste like that. Green or clear glass doesn't do the job which is why most companies that make good beer use brown glass. Some foreign companies put their beer in brown glass for domestic sales and then put it in green glass when they export it to the US because they think we like the taste of it that way.

Oh yeah ZoomZoom the vz.58 was chambered in 7.62x45 initially as well, and so was a light machine gun they had, zb-530 maybe?

7.62x45 seems like the cartridge the x39 should have been. Not much different, but I like the slightly heavier (less stubby and light for caliber) bullet and somewhat faster velocity it pushes. Not enough of a difference to significantly impact recoil, but a nice little extra in two of the most important aspects of cartridge performance. The big three to me being weight, velocity, and bullet design.

I like the blond, she could be in a magazine

I like how you kept it gun-related.

Yeah, there was an LMG chambered for it, didn't count that one as it's not really considered "a rifle". See: http://world.guns.ru/machine/mg29-e.htm

I was curious about how different the x45mm was, so I looked it up on wikipedia (sorry Max but I can't internalize bullet weight and velocity in grams and meters per second very well) and that was the third thing on there, went ahead and threw it in.

Yeah I use wikipedia.

A lot.
