If you are looking for M1 Garand in .22 the best one is probably the Kingston Armory one. As they came from he factory many were jamomatics. You will need to replace the trigger pack with the Ruger BX and install a Ruger bolt. Once that’s done done they run great and are otherwise high quality and very accurate. Plus, they look a heck of a lot like an M1!

Thanks for that input. You would think a 800 dollar gun new from the factory would run better.. I wonder why they are belly up???

Thanks many more times for that heads up and repair fix..

Also you are so right that thing is a beauty..

10/22 and stock kits can make a 10/22 look like anything out there. A friend of mine put one together for his high school graduation gift. Got the 10/22 from his mom, the stock from his dad, a couple bricks of ammo from me. I would look that direction for something to use and a classic trainer to enjoy as well.

aint it the truth..

One of the cooler dress up 10/22 kits that I hoped that it would be made... but never was.. :(

I am starting to wonder just how rare these Stevens model 87m rifles really are, maybe more out then we think.

One of the Members of that High Toned shooting club, nicknamed the Scrounger, told me he was going out on his end of the month buying trips up north.

I told him of this rifle and he said he was going to look for it. Well his 1st search boom he finds one.. and a pretty good example.. So he called me to come over and look at what he found.. and there was a Stevens Model 87M. Real clean wood and action.

But that Scrounger guy is good.. He knows where to look. I have been trying to find out his haunts for years.

The butt stock serial number is 79.. This does not have the M1 Garand trigger guard. So I am supposing those are harder to find.

I have seen this guy go out and find rare & unusual guns regularly. He has a certain Midas touch. I think he has some kind of gun divining rod.

He's a gun magnet that's for sure.
Maybe he can find that 1900 Norwegian rifle "that everybodies heard about but nobody has actually seen"
