Though I recommend a 22LR for a first handgun, or at least soon thereafter, of the three options you have listed I would personally go with the S&W Model 27 in .357 Magnum. Or even better, a Model 28 Highway Patrolman, which is the same gun as the 27 with a more economical, less lustrous blued finish. The Model 29 is a classic and a very cool choice, but in .44 Magnum/special it a pricey animal to feed, if you aren't planning on reloading.
The Model 27 or 28 will be able to shoot everything from mouse fart wax bullets and shot shells to heavy 180 grain 357 Magnum loads, with lots of great 38 Special loads in the middle. IMHO, a 357 Magnum revolver is probably the best all around handgun one can buy. Plus, you can swap out the stocks with dozens of different choices in both wood and rubber.
