I am a licensed armed security officer in Florida. For some companies, they issue a weapon that stays at the post. These gigs do not allow you to use your own, and even though 9mm and semi-autos are possible, the normal weapon is a 4 inch, 6 shot, .38.

What should I do to check a REVOLVER over when I take control of it from my shift?

Being the revo forum I am thinking revo's - or might you get about anything!?

Some checks are basic like bore obstruction - safety of trigger action etc - but some things are more specific to handgun type.

Add more info and we should get some more responses for you over time.

Man thats a bad situation. Definatly unload it and check the barrel for obstruction. Close the cylinder and cock it to insure rotation. Dry fire it double action and single action. Check firing pin or transfer bar by inserting a pen of pencil down the barrel and dry firing it. If the pen doesnt fly out insist on another gun or go home. Good luck
