i will need a sling for my 870 in the future. i want to attend the fighting shotgun course at tactical response, and i need any suggestions, links, pics etc as too where and what would be a good sling. i have a single point on my ar that i love and that can be unhooked when not in use. so i thought about getting one of those, single point plates that fits between the buttstock and the reciever much like that of my ar and i could use the same sling for my ar to the shotgun as well. what do ya'll suggest thanks!

I have 3 more Blue Force Gear - Vickers Combat Applications slings coming for my shotguns. I have one on my M4 and FAL and I love them. Simple, practical and extremely well made. Designed by Delta Force member Larry Vickers.

Vickers Combat Application Sling
by Blue Force Gear Inc.

Developed to meet my requirements, this sling incorporates the key features that I specified:

1. A versatile two-point design which allows for a variety of carry and shooting positions.
2. A quick adjustment capability to enable the shooter to quickly change the sling length and yet have no excess material to flap or tangle.
3. The ability for the shooter to use various attachment methods or hardware.
4. Superior materials and stitching.
5. Primary color: Coyote Brown (other colors available on request)

This sling utilizes an exclusive quick adjust buckle and includes a removable Fastex quick release at the fore end which is compatible with all Blue Force Gear modular female adapters, sold separately.

thanks guys, i knew someone could square me away!

RockyMtnTactical, that was exactly what i was thinking about getting, and i think i will take the sling too. is the slling you described the one off to the right of the picture of the sling adapter? i assume that you are the owner of the company? thanks again!

When I took Tactical Response's shotgun class (I believe it was called "Tactical Shotgun" back then), I used a Wilderness singlepoint on the DD plate that RMT linked in his post. It worked fine for the class and was particularly convenient for the 'meltdown' drills that we always seemed to be doing...;)

After the class, I decided that I like singlepoints on carbines, but not so much on shotguns. With shotguns, there is a bit more flop factor - and more weight banging in to you with each flop. I also find that the shotgun does not hang from a singlepoint in the same place consistently.

On the advice of Lee Lapin, I tried running a simple carry strap at another class I took over the summer, and I preferred it. The gun did not flop, and it hung in the same place every time.

In the end, it's a personal preference issue that you'll probably have to figure out for yourself. If you like the onepoint on your carbine, it certainly makes sense to try it out on the shotgun and try to maintain some commonality.

Sorry for my delayed reply...

The Sling I was referring to was the Summit Tactical Sling.

It can also be configured as a two point quick adjust sling as well.

I am the owner, yes.
