New Mexico is great for gun guys, and the climate is great, 4 distinct seasons, none of them harsh. What do you do for a living?
I'm a butcher (piggies  ) , which is good in a way, since I can save quite a lot of money every month, money that will be my escape/expatritation cash if I get a green card. The bad thing is that it's killing my back, but I'm working on that. Going to the gym and stuff. I'm looking for something else though.

Are you sure theres no waiting period for rifles and shotguns?
Because I live in clearwater which is in pinellas county and last time I bought a rifle I had to wait 3 day waiting period.
Or did that law change and make it only for handguns?

I absolutely positive that there is NO state waiting period for shotguns and rifles. There IS a 3 day waiting period for handguns w/out a CCW permit (see below). I do not know if individual counties have the power to extend the handgun waiting period to rifle and shotguns. If they do, just drive to a neighboring county for you gun purchases.

790.0655 Purchase and delivery of handguns; mandatory waiting period; exceptions; penalties.--

(1)(a) There shall be a mandatory 3-day waiting period, which shall be 3 days, excluding weekends and legal holidays, between the purchase and the delivery at retail of any handgun. "Purchase" means the transfer of money or other valuable consideration to the retailer. "Handgun" means a firearm capable of being carried and used by one hand, such as a pistol or revolver. "Retailer" means and includes every person engaged in the business of making sales at retail or for distribution, or use, or consumption, or storage to be used or consumed in this state, as defined in s. 212.02(13).

(b) Records of handgun sales must be available for inspection by any law enforcement agency, as defined in s. 934.02, during normal business hours.

(2) The 3-day waiting period shall not apply in the following circumstances:

(a) When a handgun is being purchased by a holder of a concealed weapons permit as defined in s. 790.06.

(b) To a trade-in of another handgun.

(3) It is a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084:

(a) For any retailer, or any employee or agent of a retailer, to deliver a handgun before the expiration of the 3-day waiting period, subject to the exceptions provided in subsection (2).

(b) For a purchaser to obtain delivery of a handgun by fraud, false pretense, or false representation.

History.--s. 1, ch. 91-24; s. 3, ch. 92-183; s. 98, ch. 99-3.

What more than likely happened here is that you were delayed by the NICS check.

This is likely to happen if you have a fairly common name; providing your SSAN on the 4473 will prevent this from becoming a regular occurrence.

Anyplace in the Southeast, Southwest, Rockies, and most of the Midwest are going to be pretty good. Pacific Northwest and the Vermont/New Hampshire/Maine part of New England are good as well.

Georgia, for instance, has far more pros than cons.

Pros
No license to purchase or possess
No waiting period
NFA legal across the board
Shall-Issue CCW
Unlicensed car carry with a few restrictions*
Lower than federal minimum purchase ages for private sales
Florida style Castle Doctrine law

Con
Most convoluted and restrictive "shall issue" CCW law in the country

Oh, and we only have two seasons. Summer and Fall-into-Spring. :neener:
