if i relocate to CA, i think the normal ar-15 will not be legal, what are the options? can it be modified to obey CA law?

thanks

Donate it to me :).
Seriously, I think they have a list of evil features, and it can't have more than 2. So I'm pretty sure it can be modified to to be legal.

A conversion kit is made to render the mag non detachable. Use a 10 rd mag and this kit, you should be good to go, assuming your particular model is on the list.

Hold on, folks.

There's an additional complication - some lowers are 'named' and cannot ever be made CA-compliant.

NS66, please download this flow chart: http://www.calguns.net/caawid/flowchart.pdf

That's a Calguns product to explain the law.

And yes, we are quite acutely aware of how stupid CA is that we needed to spend 6 weeks creating such a thing.

wow, does that make CA folker safer? lol

what i have in mind is buying the bushmaster carbon-15 with red dot, i guess switch to 10 round mag and change the mag release to be the "bullet button" should be good?

Do you have any non-CA family or friends you trust enough to babysit your AR until the blessed day that you are no longer a resident? Hey, that might be a nice business idea. Rental Gun Safe space just over the nearest state border (i.e. Nevada) for Calif residents who want access to their firearms without submitting themselves to the strict CA gun restrictions.

Keep in mind that many Kali cops do not understand AW law, and if you run into one like that you may get to spend time in jail while the issue gets figured out. Give some consideration as to whether having an AR pattern gun is worth the risk.

If you're going, and you don't already own an AR, my humble suggestion is that you don't buy one.

Get something else that is legal with the configuration that it is designed for. An M1A would be a great place to start.

i don't have immediate plan to go CA, but may go in the future, i want to know the options before i buy

Best I could tell you is to BUY IT AFTER YOU GET HERE. Once you leave, swap out the magazine button, buy some standard capacity mags, and call it good. If you ever must stoop down and come back, change the button back, leave your mags out of state, and bring it over. Keep copies of all the paperwork from when you bought it from a Kali dealer, and likely you won't have any problems.

Pray for an earth qauke then California can become an offshore dependancy.
OR live in a neighbouring state and only work in California
