What was your first centerfire handgun?

I had fallen in love with my uncles 1911, but did not have the money for a new one. I walked into a pawn shop and found a S&W 25-2 with an 8 3/8" barrel for a really good price. I really did not like the wide target trigger and hammer spur. It was an accurate shooter but I always hated having to use the moon clips, so I sold it and finally bought my first 1911. I sometimes wish I still had it.

Mine was a Taurus Model 83, 4", in nickel Terrible gun, worst I've ever owned. Looked identical to this one:

While it was seeing sunny Florida the first of two times, I bought a used Dan Wesson 15-2 at a local gun store. I needed a revolver for security work. The previous owner had clipped the main spring, so it had light primer strikes. A $1.00 replacement had it shooting great. Next one after that was a well worn S&W 28-2.

My first was a Llama 1911 style in 9mm. Bought it as soon as I was old enough to buy a handgun. Could never get it to shoot more than 1-2 rounds without jamming. Sold it as soon as I could someone to take it off my hands.

Kind of wish I’d been a little more mechanically inclined back then. If I had it now I bet I could make it work.

My first centerfire handgun was 6" Colt Official Police .38 revolver that I bought from my BIL for $50. The grip frame was stamped with the name of a police department. It shot great and had I nice trigger. Too young to appreciate what I had and traded it for a centerfire semi auto pistol, don't remember what persuasion.

A Glock 26 was the first handgun I ever fired at the range. I later purchased a used Glock 26 from a LGS, but changed my mind before I took possession to a NIB Springfield XD service. Still have that gun to this day and will never get rid of it. It took a decade before I purchased another Glock. Still don't like them or see what all the fuss is about.

My first centerfire handgun was an 1891 Iver Johnson top break in .32S&W. Flat latch, free spinning cylinder in either direction. Nickel with wood grips made by the original owner I believe. Sat in a drawer for 100 years. Made in the same city where I was living, and I even got to see the old Iver Johnson factory in Fitchburg/where I lived. Never been fired by me yet, needed a part that took me forever to find. Finally got it, just haven't loaded any BP .32S&W yet. Got a lot of projects going on.

Cool to say my first centerfire handgun was a literal antique made in the same city, about four minutes from my house almost a hundred and thirty years ago.
