What was the first gun you ever bought. Also do you still have it. Any other info you would like to tell us about it. How would you rate it as a first gun.

Recently traded a Taurus Model 431, my first owned piece bought new in 1993 in defiance of silly unconstitutional local ban (statute of limitations long since having run and said ban having been revoked, for those of you playing the home game). It served its purpose excellently, but carried some unpleasant memories. It found a new home, and I got a nice vintage Colt in trade.

Rem 870 express super magnum. I was 12 years old. I love itas its not fancy and always goes boom. Its not exactly a unique or very high quality but it serves its purpose well.

Mosin Nagant 91/30.
Walked into the store two days after my 18th birthday and left as happy as a clam. Still have it and it's still taken out fairly often.

My first gun - what everyone's first gun should be:

A .22 rifle at the age of 10.

In my case, a Marlin Glenfield model 60. Good for plenty of fun.

First gun that I could call mine....Remington Model 700 .270 Win. Still have it..seeing that it was only 10 years ago or so. Dad bought it for me for Christmas or my birthday, can't quite remember. I have only shot 3 deer with it, but my girlfriend has taken it over. Its as much hers as it is mine, seeing that she can out shoot me with it.

shortly after i turned 18, i found a Browning BL-22 in a pawn shop. i put it on layaway and after about 8 months, i took my rifle home. some of my best memories ever involve that gun and my cousin, going shooting on the Carbon River when we were in our late teens. i sold the gun to pay for textbooks in college. one of the very few decisions i've ever regretted in my life. that was the most fun, and most accurate gun i've ever owned. i'd pay twice the market value for it to have it back. i wish i had the foresight back then to keep it and hock y saxophone instead. one day, after i fulfill a few more gun wishes, i'll seek out another BL-22.

i need an AK, a Para P18 and (maybe) a Masada/ACR before hand. i still have a couple .22's in the mean time.

My dad gave me my Savage 25 .22lr when I was 11. My little sister used it while I was in the Army and recently got it back. The magazine is missing so I have one ordered from Midway, just have to wait for back order.

I was 20 when I walked into Wal-Mart and picked up a Savage bolt-action .22 with a synthetic stock and a cheap scope. Didn't know anything about guns at the time. Ended up selling it off and getting a 10/22.

My first was my Dads Noble model 60g 12ga that he gave me when I passed my hunters ed when I was 13 y/o. The first gun I bought was for my wife, a NEA .410 from walmart. The first gun I bought for myself was my Ruger New Model Blackhawk .44 mag. I wanted one ever sence I shot my Dads when I was 10 y/o.

Mine was a Marlin model 60 .22 I loved that gun, even though it did have a tendency to jam after it started getting dirty. I sold it for a little more than I paid, and it's a good thing too. I had no real parental guidance or supervision and used it very foolishly and irresponsibly. In all honesty, I am very surprised and fortunate that I never hurt anyone with it. But after many years of growing up, raising my own family......I found one at a pawn shop and gave it to my son for his 10th birthday. I will not make the same mistake with him that my parent made with me. Oh, and I love shooting it almost as well as my boy does! Even though it does tend to jam once it starts to get a little dirty.....

Winchester defender 12ga as soon as I was of age. At by bedside every night and will be until it gets stolen or rusts.

An old Stevens .22 singleshot 'Crack Shot" or "favorite" it was already 50 plus years old, bluing was totally worn off, and the only marks were a patent date (1902 IIRC)and there was nothing stamped anywhere to identify it.

Bought it with my snow shoveling money the winter I was 12, kept it and used it for 20 years and sold it to a friend of mine who (begged) wanted it for his son, sold it for just what I paid for it $14.00.

And while I'm glad another kid got started shooting with it, I've missed it every day since, and that was about 1973.

I've looked at the new versions and they just aren't the same at all!

Regards,
:)

Mine was an 880 Daisy powerline, followed very closely by (ironically) an 881 Marlin 222lr. Never noticed my first two guns had consecutive model #'s!! I still have the Marlin, but the Daisy was worn out years ago. I've yet to sell a single firearm of my own, and should I decide to at some point, all gifts would be excluded. Theres no way I could get rid of any of my "gifted" guns, because they mean far too much to me....and the people who bought me my guns had good taste!!!

M1903 Springfield. It was also the first gun of the man I bought it from. I'd never sell any of my firearms.

Stevens .22 singleshot 'Crack Shot"

My Dad still as one. My Grandad got it when he traded some kid 6 homing pigeons for the rifle, a week later the pigeons flew back home:D to my Grandad.

but the Daisy was worn out years ago

I've got one (880) and my Dad has two. All three have been WELL used and are still going, well kind of.

Hmmm... First "gun" I ever fired was an old pellet gun that my grandfather owned. My grandmother gave it to me many years later after my grandfather died, and I still have it in the safe today. I guess that would (in some ways) qualify as my first gun... It was the first one I ever shot, and I now own it (though I didn't acquire it until many years later).

The first real gun I ever owned was a Mossberg 500 12 gauge that my dad bought for me during my teenage years. It came with a 28" smooth barrel and a 24" rifled slug barrel. I still have that shotgun today, maybe 15 years later, and it still looks as good as new! Over the years I've hunted deer with it, shot pheasants with it, shot clays with it, used it for home defense, and every other purpose imaginable.

First gun I ever bought was a Marlin 12 ga. goose gun, put it on lay a way at the store I worked at, I was 16. The first gun I owned was a .22 rifle given to me on my 13th birthday. I still have both.

Colt Govt Model Mark IV Series 70. Sold when I was reassigned to Germany back in the '80s. My recollection of it is that it was a pure joy to fire. I preferred it to the Ruger Security Six that I also bought and sold around the same time.

it was either a savage, or ithica over/under combo gun. 22 magnum over 20 guage shotgun. it was a GREAT first gun! i killed a LOT of squirrels, and some rabbits with that gun. i do not have it any longer. i sold it to buy a mossberg 500 12 gauge, which i also no longer own. but that over/under was heavy. it was a good thing i was young, and dumb!
