Question -- I live in a city that doesn't give Class A permits (concealed and ten round or more gun licenses) so they gave me a Class B which means I can carry exposed and empty and can't buy a gun with 10 round or more -- it must be nine and under. This severely limits what I can purchase, especially in the Beretta that I love, so I'm thinking of going back again to take another shot at it. On the permit application, it asks for the "Reason(s) for requesting the issurance of card or license." How should I word this? I've decided to ask for the Class A restricted for target and range. At least I can buy the gun I want if they won't let me carry. Appreciate any advice and no, I can't move to another city or state or something I can use please. Thanks in advance.:)

P.S.

I should add in addition to this question on the application, I'll have a face to face meeting with the detective. I'll probably just repeat the same thing on the form but what should I say to him when he asks why I won't stay with the Class B? Thanks again people.:)

They won't let you purchase a pistol that'll hold even 9 rounds?? Geez. I think I'd write something like:

"You can take your :cuss: permits and shove them where the sun don't shine, 'cuz I'm getting out of your socialist city as fast as I can get my possessions in my car."

Uh...well, I just reread your post and noticed you said you can't leave. I'm really, really sorry. Maybe some serious kissing up could work (if you can swallow your dignity long enough to write it).

Aside from the wise remarks that you are sure to get, I assume you would like a "real" one or so. How about, most of the bad guys have weapons of more than 10 rounds so I need that many to level the playing field. Or 9rounds or less would seriously limit the choice of weapons that are available (in my price range). Also rule out revolvers (if you want to) with the answer of the local LEs don't have to use them so the autos must be more efficient as per their own municipal government. Having the statistics of arrested bgs and the weapons they are arrested with would sure help as would how many weapons are available with more and how many with less than 10 rounds so you can just spiel off the numbers and hopefully impress the drone who asks these questions. so they gave me a Class B which means I can carry exposed and empty and can't buy a gun with 10 round or more -- it must be nine and under.

Ok..let me get this straight. With a Class B permit you have to carry open with an EMPTY gun???

They gotta be kidding right?

If they are serious then save your money and buy the weapon you want. Carrying an empty gun openly will only serve to get you killed. Get the Class A.

They'll probably never let me carry concealed but at least with the restriction on the A, I can buy what I want. What can I say, the Chief's a dolt. If the rapes in the North End and going to retrieve my car in an empty lot at night -- in the rear doesn't sway him for concealed carry -- nothing short of an assault will.:scrutiny:

Do you engage in organized pistol competition> I don't know your country's laws but there may be provisions for allowing you to purchase a 10 round mag if you are in competition that requires it?

Really tough situation.

How about "Gimmie the :cuss: ing permit or I'll come back and bust a cap in your :cuss: ing heads!"

No? Why? :)

Chances are, unless you get a job where you're carting dinero around, or become a heavy duty contributor to the local political machine, you're just wasting your time in Kennedyburg...

Since I'm in Nazifornia, I would start off with:

"Since I know you are going to throw this in the garbage anyway, here's what I think of you, your f---ing governor, your state, and the horse you rode in on...."

Did they give you a reason why all you could get was a class B? That seem odd that they wouldnt allow even a "Sport and Hunting" Class A. Are there any cities near Boston that issue for ALP?

Stupid isn't it? They never even told me I could have the option of restricted for target and sporting. Imagine how angry I was when I realized I could have asked for that -- at least I could get the Berettas I wanted. I intend to try and change it to that since there's a snowball's chance in Hell of being allowed to carry. Thanks for the link BTW for the Pink Pistols. Appreciate everyone's feedback.:D

Wow! Interesting link...:what: I'm not gay but I'll ask about what I should write on the application. Maybe they hear this question a lot. At this point, I'm open to everyone's suggestion. Thanks again.:D

try indicating the bad situation that exists in the north end as well as your need to walk to your car unaccompanied at night in this area. you could also try to come up with some valid sounding story about how you are occasionally required to carry large sums of cash while walking in the dark to your car in the bad area. what do you do for work? you could be the one who has to make the deposits for your employer. if your employer is on your side about this they could verify it for you. that would go a long way.

catch my drift?

one thing bothering me though, while yes, a barretta is an italian design weapon, you do know that the shotgun is the prefered weapon of all us italians...

No one in my family is working -- parents retired, I'm umemployed for three years and can't find work even with a M.Ed. in TESOL and 5 month computer study. Why can't I move? No money, no job, no family in another state. I am thinking of trying to get into bartending -- maybe that will be a hook for the Class A unrestricted....:scrutiny: As far as "for all lawful purposes, tried that including submitting a page and half letter detailing the dangers of working the North End and going to my car at night. As I said, the Chief's a dolt...:banghead:

the Chief's a dolt...

Thats the worst part of Chap 180. Four years ago when I got my LTC, we had a decent chief. Now they imported a new chief from Illinois(we know thier track record with CCW) and my permits up for renewal this summer. I hope I dont lose my ALP.

People who make these rules need a choice of a class A or class B funeral.

Class a, casket
Class b, tossed in the brush.

I believe that the class B permit was for 10 round magazine capasity or less.. Class A for over 10 rounds.. About the open carry thing I believe that there is no such thing ..Seems to me that I remember a while back that a licensed owner was seen by a citizen to be carrying, it showed, and was arrested and his permit was pulled.. Can't remember just what he was charged with though..
On the Four Saesons web site is one persons experences in getting a permit renewal in Boston..Interesting reading and enough to make one happy to live out west...

Point of interest -- and I didn't understand this myself -- the Class B the gun has to have 10 or less but so what? If the gun CAN shoot more than 10, you can't buy it. For example, the 92FS only fires 10 -- I should be able to get it. I can't. It's a Class A gun because it may fire 13 or 15 with a pre ban magazine. Stupid as Hell and I had many a going back and forth with detective until someone explained the loop hole.:fire:

I guess that with a class A even if only 10rounders are available
with a new gun if there were ever larger capasity mags available
that makes it high capasity..AKA class A...Not only handguns, the
Mini 14 for example comes with a 5round mag but there are available aftermarket and even OEM large cap mags..Class A..
The really bad thing about the permit system is that everything is at the descretion of the issueing officer..No standardization..
Did you ever check the GOAL web site ?? Another one to check is
www.largo.org ..The four seasons site has lawyer listings for "help" with permit problems but I imagine that it would not be cheap..
Check out these web sites and even ask at your favorite shop and range, there just might be someone that can answer your questions..
Good luck Girl !!!!
