I'm curious as to the age of a model 36 S&W I'm looking at, Serial 781XXX. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably around 1968-69. The "number only" J frame serials ended in 1969 at #786544 and started over a J1 the same year.

Please excuse my jumping in here, but what would be the age of a Mdl 36 no dash serial number ALC07xx?

Thanks Dean. Part of the dating idea was I planned on shooting +p on a limited basis and wondered if it would take the strain. The sixties weren't that long ago and somethings were still being built well, so I'm hoping there shouldn't be a problem.

s&w model 37 #327221 flatlatch airweight

Just acquired this 2" In 99% condition. What do you guys think of it? Is it able to take todays higher pressure loads? Is it a shooter or more a collectable? Thanks

Your M37 was made is the mid-'60's and flat latches are more desirable than the later ones. I carry a pre-37 serial 104xxx. I wouldn't shoot +P's in it as these little airweight's aren't intended for a lot of shooting and will shoot loose after awhile. +P will just accelerate the process..
