This is the corollary to the old "My gun runs fine with every brand of ammo except XYZ JHPs. What should I do?"
"Don't use XYZ JHPs."

See? SEE??? Logic! If the gun works perfectly with Brand A,
but not with Brand B...How did that guy put it? "Heere's yer sign!"

A guy walks into a doctor's office and lifts his arm..."Doc...It hurts when I do this."

Doc sez: "Don't do that."

Trust, it was the recoil spring. There's light years of difference between "oughta" and "does so reliably, without fail."

Okay...How about: If the throat and ramp geometry are right, and the extractor is right, the it WILL work with a 10-pound spring...without fail.

Luck!

I wanted to be a REPROBATE, not a PONTIFICATOR! Great Guns need Great Magazines. If it isn't a great gun, any old maggy thingy will do. The GGGM Theory!

Seven round wilson's for my GM and OMs. No problems.

I've also had good luck with the ammoman.com GI mags, I think I had a bottom pop off of one though, no telling how many times it hit the concrete floor at the range. I've got ten or eleven out of the 15 I've ordered. Other than the one that flew apart, the others were lost or forgot somewhere. Hardly the best, but a good mag for range use. At about ~8 bucks each, I dont beat myself up like I do when I lose a wilson...

Fortunately, IMHO, all of the magazines that you mentioned work well in any of my numerous 45s.

All else being equal, I guess I would really prefer Wilson 47D. After that comes Mecgar, Metalform in no particular order.

But the truth is, I would feel comfortable with any mentioned if they were test fired and none if they weren't test fired.

Take care of your magazines and they will take care of you.

I like Wilsons just fine, but I prefer the McCormick PowerMags. I replace the follower with a stainless rounded MetalForm follower (which reduces capacity to 7 rounds) and I am completely happy.

On the MetalForms, I prefer the rounded followers or the plastic contoured followers but the standard flat follower will not pivot left to right enough to get twisted. I've had generally good experience with the Shooting Stars, but don't really recommend them unless you are getting them hella cheap.

Springs make all the difference as well. And keeping your mags clean and ever so slightly lubed. Also, I think good mags get blamed for malfunctions related to questionable ammo quite a bit.

The original mag that came with my Kimber wont feed well. I changed the spring and follower a couple of times and it still hangs up.

On the other hand, the Wilson mags feed without a hitch. So I now have 1 Wilson in the pistol and 2 on the belt on standby. The Kimber mag sits in the safe collecting dust.

Springfield Armory factory mags have worked pretty well for me.

Same with Chip McCormick.

Only mag I've ever had a problem with was a Wilson
