I like metal ones so far btw. I'm not traditional at all btw- I just want one with good handling and comfortable/sturdy feel.

And yes the term Ak-47 is generic... duh.

Technicaly it will be for a "k-47" (avtomat kalashnikov-47 minus the avtomat)

The Russian 100 series folders are the best in my opinion. They are a folding "fixed" stock and give you the best of both worlds.

Second to that are the Romanian/German wire folders.

Are you asking about an actual "AK-47" or are you just using that term generically?

This is a gun forum, and you don't see folks asking "What's the best Ruger round?"

Yeah I like either the fullsize Russian 100-series, or even better, the ACE folders. My brother and I have ACE folders on ours. I have a folding collapsible six-position M4-style stock, he has a Galil-style folder. Both are solid. The Galil-style in particular is nearly bombproof, but it doesn't have the ability to adjust length of pull to match any shooter or situation. No complaints with either.

For skeletonized metal stocks, nothing beats the triangle metal folder introduced with the AKS-74. Rugged, no slop or wobble, and good cheek weld. Besides that, the AK-100 series stocks are basically solid stocks that fold. Best of both worlds as mentioned before.

I have an outstanding folding/collapsing ATI stock. But I no longer need it and am selling it for $50 if anyone wants it. It is a multiposition M4 style stock on a pivot that folds against the receiver. I sold the AK, but took off the stock first and put the original stock on it so I could sell the stock separately.

If you want traditional, I agree that the triangle folder is the best. However, you will need some receiver mods to insert the proper latch mechanism.

If you are not dead set on traditional, I highly recommend the Ace folder with internal block. I believe that it is hands-down, the best aftermarket folder out there.

I really like the Chinese Type 56 sidefolder. Good cheek weld, strong hinge mechanism, and doesn't use a latch in the front of the gun like the Russian 100-series.

Wire Side Folder

Folding stock and comfortable? You are asking too much. FWIW I love the East German/Romanian/Polish wire side folders. Simple, tough and easy to use. They fold to the right so they will not interfere with optic mounts. The Polish is the best of the 3 but most expensive and harder to find. This http://www.amd65tech.com/ would help with comfort and has been tested in the sandbox. It will make manipulating the safety more difficult when the stock is folded. APEX has Rommy wire folders for ~$50.
