What's the oddest thing you've heard someone say in regards to firearms, ammunition, etc.?

Nope.
They use them for signal flares...

Lethal Weapon.

And another gem from the franchise.

... And cop killer Teflon coated bullets that pass right through Kevlar...

That also shot through a bulldozer’s blade...

It was an action/comedy.:)
If I recall the Kevlar wearing Cop was right behind the bulldozer blade when he was shot with the Teflon coated bullet.... Is this even possible for a 9mm pistol at the time? I mean bulldozer blades are fairly thick and made out of decent steel...

I have an infamous co worker said calling a famous gun maker Smith & Wilson repeatedly during a debate at work.

Around here it is "Smith and Western." And the coworker who favored "Sig Sawyers."

one just came to mind... some paraphrasing of "for a given pressure, smokeless will make higher pressure than black powder"... origin? Every forum out there, even here, in reference to using smokeless in a BP gun (not that I do, or suggest it).

You will read every day that the pressure curve of smokeless is higher than black. You can even be referred to some pencil drawings.

My gun makes a loud noise and kicks hard.
Elderly fellow with a mauser his grandkids bought him.
Those 8x75 Mauser rounds were having a tough time shooting out of the 30/06 chamber and bore.

8x57 maybe. That was one of the Hatcher Blowups of a low number 1903 Springfield. It is cited so much that you would think it happened all the time.
Then there was the guy who was of the firm opinion that the 7.7mm Arisaka was designed so a desperate Japanese soldier could cram a captured .30-06 cartridge into the chamber for one last shot at an American.

Luger makes a 22 magnum semiauto pistol.

No, but John Martz did and I thought that was one of the neater guns I had ever seen.

Told a big over six foot guy, I owned a 1911. He says that he shot one in the Army and it damn near tore his arm off. I'm a 5'7 ish guy. Said, I just shot 95 of them this past weekend, still got my arm. He was an accountant in the Army.

I thing I did read recently from some oddball site owned by some dumbass who clearly knows nothing about firarms or what Militarizes currently use or issue to troops. Such the Desert Eagle was designed by IMI for Israel to issue their troops. Or snipers shoot at 3000 to 4500 meters and are able to shoot their targets in the head at that range...

I had to do some google metric conversion to understand the scope of what 3000 meters = 1.864 miles
4500 meters = 2.79617 miles was.

Im thinking anything over 440 yards (1/4 mile) is streching things.
At some point the use of Morters or short range artillary would better serve target liqudation.

Well, the way I hear it, they sneak to the Negev desert and lie in wait in the sand.
When an enemy’s helicopter flies over, they shoot it down, change magazines, and return to the camouflage of sand, like scorpions...

:)

I'll give the accountant the benefit of a doubt and assume he didn't hold the 1911 properly with a decent grip... The only .45 ACP pistol was a Hi-Point and those are quite a heavier then 1911's are.

Just remembered, a guard captain at where I used to work, told me that a blackpowder gun will go through "Bullet Proof" Glass way better them modern guns will due to how powerful Blackpowder is.

Speaking of the AR-14, didn't Armalite have a shotgun or two in their AR line? The three AR long arms from/designed by Armalite that comes to mind to mind are the AR-7, AR-10, and of course AR-15 which the most famous one.

Now THAT is recoil! Pushing 60,000 tons 20+ feet. I couldn't find these guns in Chuck Hawks recoil table though....
It is a lot of recoil, but it's a LOT of ship.

The waves you see in the water aren't generated by recoil, they're displaced water from the muzzle blast.

According to experts, the ship moves sideways less than a millimeter under recoil.

Think about it, if the ship actually recoiled 20 feet it'd cripple or kill just about everyone aboard when they got slammed into the fast moving steel bulkheads.

What about the boltaction .22 Hornet AR-5?

Forgotten about the their Bolt Action.22 Hornet. Was it also a take down like the AR-7?

I walked into a local gun shop. They had a marlin model 24 grade C for sale on the rack.

I decided to buy it. The guy working the counter brought me right to the register.

I said “what no background check?”

He proceeded to ask the owner “hey Ed! Does this need a background check or is it antique?”

I then interjected “it’s a model 24, all we’re made after 1908, it’s not an antique”

Boss yells over “ no, no 4473 is needed, it’s an antique”

I said “Well if you insist, but it should require a check”.

He then rang me up still with no check

Good God, I sure hope that people who are not supposed to have them don't find out about this... BTW, any State Laws in your State you might be violating by buying this w/o background check?
