What's the situation with the 2023 Washington State assault weapons ban? Is it in effect?

Yes, the bill became effective as law on 4/25/23.

So, if you are an out-of-state resident moving into, or visiting, Washington state, do not bring in any magazines with capacity above 10 rounds, nor any firearm classified as an "assault weapon." The list is long and noteworthy. Aside from the actual listed firearms, pay special attention to features/accessories that are also banned, i.e., threaded barrels, pistols grips, etc.

Another bananna republic I will never visit ever again! Population center controlled degeneracy
Are you still in Oregon? You've got some equally egregious laws pending... We're all going down the tubes. I personally don't like humidity, mosquitos, or ticks, but we'll be re-locating at some point in the near future.

Here's some things you can't have now up here (in addition to the long list of guns):

(ii) A semiautomatic rifle that has an overall length of less31 than 30 inches;p. 4 SHB 1240.PL1 (iii) A conversion kit, part, or combination of parts, from which2 an assault weapon can be assembled or from which a firearm can be3 converted into an assault weapon if those parts are in the possession4 or under the control of the same person; or5 (iv) A semiautomatic, center fire rifle that has the capacity to6 accept a detachable magazine and has one or more of the following:7 (A) A grip that is independent or detached from the stock that8 protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon. The9 addition of a fin attaching the grip to the stock does not exempt the10 grip if it otherwise resembles the grip found on a pistol;11 (B) Thumbhole stock;12 (C) Folding or telescoping stock;13 (D) Forward pistol, vertical, angled, or other grip designed for14 use by the nonfiring hand to improve control;15 (E) Flash suppressor, flash guard, flash eliminator, flash hider,16 sound suppressor, silencer, or any item designed to reduce the visual17 or audio signature of the firearm;18 (F) Muzzle brake, recoil compensator, or any item designed to be19 affixed to the barrel to reduce recoil or muzzle rise;20 (G) Threaded barrel designed to attach a flash suppressor, sound21 suppressor, muzzle break, or similar item;22 (H) Grenade launcher or flare launcher; or23 (I) A shroud that encircles either all or part of the barrel24 designed to shield the bearer's hand from heat, except a solid25 forearm of a stock that covers only the bottom of the barrel;26 (v) A semiautomatic, center fire rifle that has a fixed magazine27 with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds;28 (vi) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a29 detachable magazine and has one or more of the following:30 (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor,31 forward handgrip, or silencer;32 (B) A second hand grip;33 (C) A shroud that encircles either all or part of the barrel34 designed to shield the bearer's hand from heat, except a solid35 forearm of a stock that covers only the bottom of the barrel; or36 (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location37 outside of the pistol grip;38 (vii) A semiautomatic shotgun that has any of the following:39 (A) A folding or telescoping stock;p. 5 SHB 1240.PL1 (B) A grip that is independent or detached from the stock that2 protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon. The3 addition of a fin attaching the grip to the stock does not exempt the4 grip if it otherwise resembles the grip found on a pistol;5 (C) A thumbhole stock;6 (D) A forward pistol, vertical, angled, or other grip designed7 for use by the nonfiring hand to improve control;8 (E) A fixed magazine in excess of seven rounds; or9 (F) A revolving cylinder shotgun.10 (b) For the purposes of this subsection, "fixed magazine" means11 an ammunition feeding device contained in, or permanently attached12 to, a firearm in such a manner that the device cannot be removed13 without disassembly of the firearm action.

Can you keep them if you have them or are they gonna go ahead and ioate your 4th amendment as well as your 2nd ? Is what upo have meeting those terms grandfathered ? Or confiscated ? I'd be conducting demonstrations if they are being confiscated, lots of veterans in Wash State.

As of this date, everything one owned before the law went into effect is grandfathered.

So far. We expect that the state will attempt to eventually have us registering our thus-far legally owned firearms. If it comes to that, there's gonna be trouble.

As an aside, while running errands this afternoon, I had a car in front of me with "WILL NOT COMPLY" in huge letters on his back window.

In all likelihood, IL-ANNOY can thank WA for its current AWB. If they can get it up and running (questionable), the ISP are going to have owners start registering their AWs on 10/1/23. Then, come 1/1/24, if you haven't registered them, you are automatically a felon. No due process, no leniency, no grandfathering, etc. Our only choice is move them out of state, sell them before January, render them inoperable, or register them with the ISP.
And Gov. "Jabba" is already intimating that, once registered, confiscation is only a heartbeat away.
And there are many in various forums have indicated that they won't comply either.

Yes, and it follows the direction where Bloomberg, MDA and other are pushing the
agenda. The wording is close to cut and paste. The vagaries and non gun owner thought process is interesting.
No one can be absolutely sure what is covered. Its very disturbing to all of us who have spent decades following ever more controlling gun laws.
