the gun i have is a ruger over and under 20 ga. shotgun. it is complete with choke tubes. the receiver is stainless steel with a design engraved and a ruff grouse that is gold plated on the side of the receiver as well as a gold plated ruff grouse on the bottom of the receiver as well. the barrel is blued. as far as the serial number heres what i have.....on the bottom of the guns receiver there are engravings that say MO R.G.S. 2/3.....now i know the mo rgs stands for missouri ruff grouse society, but 2/3 i would not think is the serial number. there is another number on the gun towards the safety, that numbers 401-20572 which i believe is the serial number. the gun has been assembled once by me to see what it looked like and has never had a fingerprint touch it. never been loaded none the less fired either. Im just kinda wondering if i should get some insurance on this thing or if its not worth a whole lot. any info. is greatly appreciated!! thanks in advance.

Red Label Value

This is Ruger's standard engraved model. Their catalog retail price is $1650. I've seen them in retail gun shops as low as $1250.00. I would not bother to insure it. Just shoot it, it's a nice upland game gun.

It would sell privately around here for $950-1100. It would be marked $1250-1400 in the stores and would sell for $1100-1200 IF it ever sold.

It is a fantastic shotgun both in terms of looks and in terms of quality.

thank you for the information and the replies. I dont plan on shooting the gun though, plan on it being more of a family pass along as it came from my grandfather. Sorry for posting in the general discussion where it wasnt suppose to belong.
