I'm into airsoft recently, in the last year. I'm not alone, there are thousands of others who like it too, weekly games, big games, small ones, indoor, outdoor, it's good stuff.
Problem #1: It's sort of grey-area legal. The guns are considered replica firearms, not by law but by a policy document, a memo. They fire projectiles, so they might not be replicas, but they're too weak to be firearms. The result is that replica rules are being applied to them, and it's very difficult to import the guns.
Problem #2: The national community has influential members (if that's what forum whores can be called) who don't care, and outright resist any attempts to improve the situation. They say things 'aren't too bad' and they say 'if we keep a low profile we might be left alone', all sorts of crazy talk. I point out that the Liberals were campaigning on a platform of national confiscation of legally owned restricted firearms last election, and they are not going to let people play with their semi-legal realistic looking toys, after they finish banning all real guns. But it doesn't get through!
What to do? Rephrase the argument, are there more eloquent ways to convince them? I said it was like a tug of war, and if you stop pulling the other side keeps pulling and wins. What else is there? Are there other options? The last time I tried to get a form letter going on the national board the moderators deleted it, as incindiary and unnecessary!
I'm afraid they might be Liberals, because the thread was about how to influence and support the Conservatives in an upcoming election (if there's a non-confidence vote- it's complicated). The attitudes they have, they seem sort of elitist, controlling, and yet ambivalent and ignorant - what do you do if you suspect your leaders are Liberals, and you believe the only hope for greater freedoms is conservatives?
Sorry that's so long, but it's a complex situation;
Thanks;
Scott
