I don't even know anymore
I have a Taurus PT111 Millennium Pro in 9mm. I bought it used, but it wasn't very used. I've had it for about a year and a half.
I've heard of Fail to Fire being common on these pistols, but I don't have that problem. I have a fail to extract problem. It seems like it only chokes on WWB ammo, and it's never failed with my Hydrashock Carry ammo, but I'm getting really sick of it FTEing at the range, and I'm definitely worried about its reliability as a carry weapon. Its the only handgun I have thats suitable for carry, and I can't afford to just go get another pistol right now.

Is this a common problem among Taurus owners? Is there something I can do to remedy the problem?

Grab a new round from each of those brands of ammo, and compare the base/head/extractor groove to each other.

The WWB ammo might have a touch smaller base, or shallower groove, or a thicker base.

If nothing else, change brand of range ammo.

I'll check that. Thanks.
the only reason I keep buying WWB is that its so cheap and if nothing else, it keeps me well practiced in clearing malfunctions quickly and returning to shooting.

My PT145 does not like WWB at all. First, they have very hard primers compared to other ammo. Change your ammo and you will not have the problem. You said it..it is cheap ammo.

My PT145 is great with Hydrashocks and WWB.

For whatever reason, it hates UMC yellow box.

Try different ammo and try taking a look at the extractor. If all else fails, call Taurus. You'll hear horror stories on their customer services, but I've had a great experience with them. They gave me an accurate estimate of repair times, and paid for me to send it to and from them. It still took 5 weeks, but they did what they said they would.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your Taurus. Each part is slightly different, tollerances and wear and tear on equipment used to make and fit parts together.
you have ammunition that works fine in it. USE that ammunition for carry work, as you know it will go off.

As to WWB,not every one or every gun likes to work with it. Its up to you if you want to use your current supply of it up, and whatnot. However since you want cheap range ammo, simply switch to something else or get some from the "send your empty cases in and get reduced rate for loaded ammo" places.

I got my PT111 MilPro and immediately had problems with it feeding and the recoil spring popped out of the front of the slide. They sent me a new spring which fixed the problems for a while but now when I rack the slide and let it slam shut it decocks itself. It'll be going in for service and is then getting sold. I also had a 24/7 before the PT111 and that jammed up all the time too. I'm done with Taurus. M&P compact will be taking its place.

Ukrainetrain, the Pt111 Milpro is DOA with the striker at full rest (uncocked) until it is drawn back by the sear as you pull the trigger....... how is it that ya can get yours to decock itself when it is never cocked to begin with until ya actually pull the trigger???? The PT111, PT140 and PT145 do not operate like a Glock....... they are never cocked that is what makes em so safe, ya can rack the slide all ya want it has no effect on the striker being cocked..... I do ALOT of trigger jobs on Taurus Milpros if ya need pics I can take some for ya.... ya must be confused and thinking of another gun as your description of problems does not fit the PT111

The Pro models are SA/DA... when you load a magazine and rack the slide it cocks. The only time it goes into DA is if you have a misfire, since there is no decocker.

Well, actually, the 2nd generation is DAO...like my PT145 (I consider the best) of course. The newer ones are SA/DA. Sorry UT that yours was a bad one. Me....I have many weapons but my Millennium Pro PT145 was a great one right out of the box...I love carrying this .45 ACP!
