LMT

Best overall value. My friend just put together one of their 10.5 inch guns with an aimpoint T1 and we ran the hell out of that thing putting 1,000 rounds through it in a couple hours. Completely flawless performance.

I personally put 500 rounds out of my silenced 16” the same day. The gun was filthy (suppressors cause quite a bit of blow back) but just kept going.

re: LMT

My latest project was an LMT. I bought the upper and lower separately. Completed, with rear sight and transfer was right at $930. As DT said, best bang for the buck.

As far as the DI systems, LMT is by far the best AR, but overall i will take my POF (Patriot Ordnance Factory) hk416 over any of the ones listed. I have put over 3000 rounds, and it not be cleaned once without a single jam. I love the gas-piston design just like the HK systems. I took the gun apart last week and it looks like it has never been shot:)

Why not Alexander Arms

Why did you leave out Alexander Arms in your poll? :what: In my opinion and I have shot most of the guns you listed, Alexander Arms is by far the best.

I like Bushmaster and DPMS for a 2nd and 3rd choice. The worst one I have ever shot is the Stag Arms. :barf: The trigger on that thing is a joke and the accuracy is pathetic. Maybe it was just a bad one but GunTest magazine gave them a poor review as well.

I'll take an Alexander Arms Beowulf .50 or a Grendel 6.5 over anything out there given my choice and the proper funds.

I don't care much for the .223 round in general. :scrutiny: I think of it as a light varmint round. I think the military went to this crappy round due to budget constraints more than any other reason. Most of the soldiers I know don't think much of it either. :(

The original question is rather general. For most people I feel LMT is the best value. Right there with them is Colt LE (not civilian), and probably Saber Defense.

I was over at Gander Mountain the other day and just looking through all of the AR they had there (probably 20 or so) they just felt so cheap in comparison.

Here’s my two current LMT setups:

Both 16” guns. The one with the Eotech and SPRM/4 suppressor is my serious business gun.

The other one with the 40mm is just a macho toy. One of these days I’ll get around to doing a detailed LMT M203 range report.

I have two DPMS and have my hands on the rest. I dont' know where the perception of quality or lack there of is comming from.

DPMS, Bushmaster and Remington are all owned by the same company.

Only ones I've fired are Bushmaster, DPMS, and Colt. They all worked fine. As for build quality, Bushy, Colt, RRA, Stag, Armalite, CMMG, etc are all good. Haven't picked up an LMT but they have a good reputation as well.

My advice with ARs is: see what you are willing to pay for, and go with the rifle that has the features you want/need at that price.
