What's your favorite handgun caliber?

My number 1

I am a 40 man myself. I carry a Sig 225 and have a glock 22 both in 40. I feel that the performance is better than a 9 and I have less kick than a 45.

.45 acp with .357 mag and .44 mag a close second and third.

.45 because of self defense, .357 because it's a great, all-around, easy to pack cartridge for protection/hunting in the woods - 2-legged and 4-legged, and .44 mag for real hunting.

I also like .22 :p

I guess my favorite color is "plaid".

.380. I caqn keep 'em in 4" at 25 yards with mine. I know it's considered "marginal", but I think all hand gun rounds are marginal. consider the .30 US Carbine--criticized for being marginal, but delivering more energy to a target than .44.

At least with the .380, I can hit them. I can't do that with a heavier caliber. (old injry to my arm.)

38 Super. A 1911 in 38 Super is my favorite combo. This caliber is easy to shoot, and a 115gr HP bullet at 1400+ fps would be felt when it hits.

My favorite caliber is 9x23 Winchester. It is the ballistic duplicate of the 357 Magnum in a case that can be fired through a semi-auto. I even reload with 158gn and 124gn 357 bullets.

My favorite handgun caliber has two of the 4's in it. Actually there are 2 of them.

44-40

44 special

SAA's in 44-40 but the N frame is just too big

44 special in SAA's and DA revolvers for carry

.50 AE. It's like car-wreck-in-a-can. A bit pricey, but it's still my favorite caliber to shoot. (NOT my carry caliber though).

.45 colt

Standard velocity will work wonders on just about anything. Put it into a ruger frame and let the fun begin.

...

That would be my Sig P229/40 or my 9mm.. both P229's just seem to be the most natural, accurate, shooters in my small herd..

My SA EMP 9mm is in a, solid, Second place..
