I've got a Randall #3 5" that I use for most any hunting and camping purpose. Even though there are times I like a thinner blade, I just plain like that knife.
For daily use, I typically carry a BM Mini-Skirmish.
My favorite knife would have to be my new Busse Combat Heavy Heart! (I snagged this shot from "The Store" since my own pics turned out really awful after I resized them...)
I was very lucky recently and was able to get a hold of this very nice Jeff Chaffee Knife. It has a blued Damacus blade. The frame is titanium and the bolsters are brushed titanium with satin finish the sides are G-10.
If I could pick one it's be a Loveless 4" Drop Point Hunter, but at $3500 I won't be getting one anytime soon. Mr. Loveless did put one in my hands to look at though and even that was a thrill. Hell just seeing his shop with 5 mills was neat!
Other than that I like Striders and the ones I make.
My favorite is the Benchmade AFCK at the right of this pic...
I bought it when I was at sub-school in '96 and have carried it ever since. It's a great knife, and I only rarely want to pick up something new. Like maybe the Mini-commander from Emerson...
My fav is the Spyderco G-10 Police. It is such a well thought out design with the long pointy full flat ground blade and comfortable handle. It is a shame they are discontinued now.
Mad Dog 10" Sitka with Glowing Temperline is my new favorite all around knife. It replaced my Randal #14 Attack which I sold to partially finance it and is a better knife overall .
My Mad Dog Rezine Bowie GTL is a 9" sticking knife which slaughters livestock better than anything ! It replaces my Randal Bear Bowie I used for the task for 10 years.
My Mad Dog 7" Voodoo Cat is a nasty double edge fighting knife that is on my tactical harness right behind my pistol holster. It replaced my Randal #1 I carried thru Nam-twice!
I have a Mad Dog baby Rhino Skinner 4"x3/16" on order for skinning what I kill.I been using a Wyoming skinner for 25 years .
I also have a Mad Dog DSU on order, which is a fully serrated 7.5" Field knife.
I carry a Polkowski Kasper ,which is 4.75"x3/16" and thin and petite in it's kydex clip on.
For in the pocket folders clip ons it's the Cuda Max 7" Gibbs special , which is the biggest folder I can clip inside pocket, is Kali legal is very light and very fast of D-2!
I must confess I like my 1974 Puma Game Warden 4" folder- it rocks!
Green River skinner ! (with wooden grips much to the horror of the health dept) for most of my work & a Old 3inch pocket knife called a Bunny (I've forgottern the manufacturer it's that old ) For foxes & the like
EDC knife that replaced the Benchmade Mini Stryker & Emerson CQC-7 rotation is a Benchmade 551 Griptillian. It's lightweight, very comfortable to grip, and a great all around size. Over Christmas I was re-united with my Benchmade 813 mini TSEK which sees some carry when I wanna keep blade length but lose overall width. If I don't want a pocket clip showing I carry my Benchmite auto. I'm quite happy that I was able to get the last two before they were discontinued. I really like the cutout pattern and levitator lock system on the Benchmite so for an overall cool factor its my current favorite.
Schrade Old Timer with 3 inch blade. Carbon steel, sharpens quick and easy, has skinned deer, squirrel, rabbit, turkey and so on. Good general all around knife. Wire stripper, toothpick, (gotta be careful there).
My CRKT Van Hoy folder is my favorite right now. It's design lets me carry it around without worrying much about someone grabbing it and using it against me. I'd get at least a couple of more seconds for counterstrike and reaction.
And, it's got a good blade, you don't have to look at it to use it, and it's pretty nice looking.
My only guilt about it so far is that I bought it at Wal-Mart
EDC: Al Mar SERE
Favorite folder: walter griggs daddy barlow
Facorite Fixed: Randall Rick Bowles skinner
I don't have either of the last two, but give me some time.
I have a Benchmade the wife bought me for my B day a few years ago.
975 SBT aka the CQC-9.
This is the best folder I've ever owned. I wish I bought a few when she got me this one.
Eric
When I have to put three deer from the garage to the freezer in one sitting, my all time favorite knife is a Ka-bar Precision Hunter Long Point (not the Long Point Firm). It is one or two degrees firmer than a fillet knife, has a great handle for comfort, and responds very well to a quick trip on the steel to get it razor sharp.
This is the knife I appreciate most, because this is the knife that does the most work for me.
