I don't know where prices will most likely go from here. The $1200-$1500 gun I was looking at for 2 years is going for $2000 now. So its either a deal now at $2000 (may go up even) or these prices are temporary until supplies catch up and things cool off politically.

What's your position in the current gun market?

Hold, Things are sure to change, but everyone is in a panic mode right now.
I wish I would have bought more hi cap mags about 3 weeks ago.
Suppy and Demand is crazy right now

My advice is if you procrastinated till now it's to late. I wisely bought in May when you could get guns.

But I'm not an AR person. I bought that gun for one purpose only. I also will not give it up . I'm a law abiding citizen that has jumped through hoops for the government. On that note I'll continue to keep it till I'm dead.

Ammo is another commodity you had best have. The only time you can ever have to much ammo is when your house is on fire.

Depends on the gun itself or at least type of gun.
If it's an AR type then you will pay thru the nose for it.
If it's a mainstream gun then the prices may go down with all the money going to the semi auto rifles.
If it's a CCW piece then the prices may hold steady while the demand is still high.
If it's a 1911, the prices may soften up a bit while the money goes to the hi caps, ARs and CCW market.
I think the present day panic is affecting the entire industry right now and it will subside (except for the possibly regulated items) in a few weeks.
Just my opinion, of course.

I recently bought a LE6920, ok I did it and I shot it and now the fuss is over for me. I got to thinking if the black choppers land in my yard and an organized military group headed for my house this AR might gain me 1.5 seconds survival time over my 30-30.

Kinda stuck between hold and sell myself.

I'm at a buy/hold position right now. I'm content with the firearms that I have. That said, if I happen upon something that interests me at a good price, I may buy.

Mags and ammo, I have what I need but since they are consumables, I will buy when possible.

I have zero plans to sell anything.

Holding for the time being. I don't think that much will come of this (I'm an optimist- shoot me), if it does replacement may be an issue and I don't have extras that I am willing to part with................

............yet.

The only time you can ever have to much ammo is when your house is on fire.

That's a slight modification of an old pilot's saying "The only time you have too much fuel is when the plane's on fire.".

Anyways, I'm MOSTLY holding right now. I'm not going to get rid of anything that I can't get back, but I'm mostly satisfied. I don't have some huge cache or anything (generally 5-6 mags for most of my guns), but I'm mostly good. I ordered 6 M&P mags and a 10-pack of Magpuls ($100 - backordered. I don't care when they get here as long as they're here before any legislation would take effect).

Personally, I'm gonna hold for now. I have been eyeing a case of 5.56 ammo and wondering how much $$$ it would net me if I sold it right now, but I don't think I have the guts to actually sell it. I have enough of everything else to continue my regular range visits right now.

I sold, traded actually, a couple of high capacity modern sporting rifles this week. I have more than I can carry, even in a tactical wheelbarrow, and the prices offered were just to good to pass up.

Mostly hold, but I did buy an AR on Tuesday, it was at a local sporting goods chain store though, and not marked up insanely (priced competitively with pre-incident mail order price once you add shipping/FFL costs). I had been in the market for an AR the last few months, just had not been in a big rush, this incident made me get off the fence.

Hold, until price is irresistible. My friend offered me 1200 for my Bulgy 74 that I built for $320. I turned it down.

Sell if you're looking to sell, I see $500+ premiums going on rifles locally and on the net. Hold if you're looking to buy... prices will come back down, some of these $1600 AR's will return to $800 in 3-6 months.

Only buy if the price is the same as it was 3-6 months ago. I've been shopping for some future projects and friends, still finding "NORMAL" pricing on a few sites. LPK's went from $75 to $165+ this past week with some distributors. Stripped Lowers disappeared from the market and some sites doubled the prices on the remaining few before they left.

EDIT: You had 2 major buying spree's come up; before/after election and the school shootings... It's going to take 3-6 months to a year to come back to normal, or some legislation will be passed and prices will go even more astronomical. IMHO...

Holding. Bought my guns, magazines and ammo years ago. My grandkids are covered.

If I could go short in this market, I would. I think things will drop back to more normal price levels much sooner than many people. Yes, I've been told I'm dreaming, but once the NRA made things clear about not supporting any new restrictions, it will be much harder to pass any new bans/limits.

I wanted an AR and just recently had to choose between buying an AR stripped lower and parts kit or a 10-22 which I also wanted... idiot me got the 10-22. :banghead:

Only thing I'm really POed about is that I didn't buy any of the Ruger 25rd magazines as soon as I got it... "Oh I'll just get some after the holiday." :banghead:

I'm not overly concerned, I think after the initial panic and shenanigans things will subside and I'm very hopeful that nothing really passes. I am not hording ammo by any means, but I have plenty to protect myself from the more likely threat of an armed robbery(handgun-wise... not using the 10-22).

I'm hoping/predicting things will return to like normal in 3-6 months as someone else suggested.
