What's your preference pistols or long guns?

Because of increasing age and vision problems since childhood, I am more accurate with scoped long guns. That doesn't mean I don't like to shoot my various handguns. It just means I'm not as good, even at those shorter distances.

I prefer long guns.
I look to use handguns to get to my long guns.

I have a handful of both. Currently I'm more into long guns. 2 months ago it was handguns and in another month or 2, I might be back to handguns. For the last 6 months its been rimfire, but before long could be back to centerfire. So far I've resisted the urge to get back into shotguns so I'm kinda thin on those right now. All subject to change at any time.

I enjoy rifles for the usefulness of various types, I like rifles as art, the shear gracefulness of line and fitting of wood to metal and the poetry of the total. For history.
I prefer a long gun for hunting and overt combat.
I enjoy handguns for much the same reasons.
I prefer a handgun for personal carry and immediate defense.

For me, it has always been pistols, but during the periods of limited ammo availability and ridiculously high prices when it was available, I got hooked on PCP air rifles.
I now shoot much more that I ever did powder burners.

So I do PCP rifles, because a pistol with a big enough air tank to be useful, is just bulky and awkward. That and the rifles are incredibly accurate.

I guess my train of thought was about is collecting, but to me shooting and collecting are the same thing as I wouldn't buy a rifle or pistol If I didn't enjoy shooting it.
I prefer rifles to pistols. I prefer a slick double shotgun to rifles.
I prefer single shot to semi-full auto with the things that go up and weigh as much as 10 boxes that I move with.;)
Really I prefer anything that catches my eye.

I never owned a rifle. Have a shotgun, three autoloaders and five revolvers. My preference is heavy to revolvers.

What's your preference pistols or long guns?

Rifles for leisure shooting enjoyment. Obviously not practical for concealed carry but for sheer enjoyment I can be found on the rifle range, especially up here in NE Ohio where my range time is limited to when the rifle range is not a frozen tundra.

I prefer 22 rifles.

And, short range centerfire rifles. Pistol caliber and 30-30 lever guns.

I like revolvers.

I really enjoy shotgun shooting. Remington 870 is my choice.

I prefer sporting arms from the smokeless era of wood and steel.

I’ve tried Lots of different types of guns and cartridges but I keep coming back to the basics and my roots. So I stopped fighting it.

My home range is only about 50yrds and I have an IDPA background so pistols are what I shoot the most.

In a theoretical gunfight? I want a rifle.

However I'll certainly settle for a pistol.

Have enough of both, but I’d have to say it’s the handguns that exert the greater fascination. A lot of it has to do with portability and concealment since self-defense is my first firearm priority. But history has a lot to do with it as well. Not just the macro-history of wars (where, obviously, the rifle prevails), but also the history of everyday life. In it’s way, my owl’s-head breaktop is just as iconic and evocative as my Mosin or SMLE.

I enjoy shooting revolvers very much but I am more of a rifle guy tgan a handgu guy. I love them both but I love rifkrs a little more.

For fun, I prefer rifles and shotguns.

For realistic daily defensive purposes, handguns take the lead. Consequently, they get more range time.

I voted pistol. Wait, no, I didn’t. Hey, this should be a poll!:)

The sheer volume of rounds put through pistols, especially rimfire ones, makes me a pistolero at heart. I have more rounds though my Desert Eagle alone than many of my ARs. If I can see it, I can hit it with a pistol. Now even left handed!

However, I actually own more rifles, just because ARs have been so inexpensive for really great product in recent years. I aim to rectify this disparity with some CZs when things settle down. They’ll even still fit in the safe, not so for just one more long gun. Heck even another upper won’t fit, but the shelf has room for an A-01 LD.:D

(Oh, No! I’ll have to find some way to fit a Ruger/Marlin lever gun in my safe too!;))

What an interesting thread!
What’s my favorite?
A well balanced , good looking shotgun.
Next is a muzzle loading rifle
Lastly is a handgun.

that being said, handguns take up less room in the safe and are fun to collect.

I like rifles more. But realistically I shoot pistols more. It’s a lot easier to pack a few in a bag and go shooting. But I don’t shoot either as often as I could wish.

I thoroughly enjoy shooting almost anything that launches a projectile. Rifle, pistol, shotgun, air rifle or pistol, bow and arrow, etc. Wherever I am at if I have the opportunity to shoot at some acceptable target I will use whatever is appropriate and available.

When I go out in the woods, I always take and intend to use a rifle, but if I don't have a handgun on my hip, I don't feel comfortable. I know the rifle is more powerful and easier for me to shoot but the handgun gives me peace of mind.
