it can't be just any rifle. I thought I would show off a project I just finished for my son's 2nd B-day. As you can see from the photos, I used my '44 Springfield as a model. I am no woodworker so I am happy with how it turned out and my boy loves it. It is cut/carved from a plain old 2x6, so sometimes it was hard to get good clean chisel cuts, finished with red mohagony and acrylic paint. Hope you enjoy. Oh yeah, my youngest daughter saw it and says she wants one, I think I'll copy my wife's mini for her.

No fair, I was stuck playing with a bent 2x4 when I was a kid.

That is amazing, well done.

That's sure a lot better than any toy gun you can buy, and its something that he will always treasure. Be sure to put it up and keep it for him after he out grows it. It will be something he will want to pass on ot his kids. GOOD JOB!!

My kids will be 4,6,6 & 7 at Christmas time this year... How much for one scaled to each age and can I get them before the 24th? :D

J/k (kinda)... that is AWESOME! You have a talent, and prally too much spare time...

Very cool gift, you've created an heirloom, and certainly better than anything you could buy. He'll be giving that to his 2 year old someday.

...

you just spoilt most of my childhood memories ...

All we had was Lego and cheap plastic.

:cuss:

:)

Yeah that is far too impressive. I had some wood toys in my childhood made by family but they weren't nearly as detailed as that.

Double ditto what Moose458 said. My dad made a toy gun for me when I was 5 or so. I'd trade anything in my safe for that chunk of long gone plywood.

Awesome job!;) A toy to be handed down for generations I hope.

I'd say you're obsessed with M1's :D

7mm Savage

Excellent job7mm. My imaginary Thompson as a kid when we played army was an old bedpost . The Parris rifle I finally received was nice but it was no 7mmSavage Garand.
