When and how did your significant other find out about your guns?

Perhaps it's just a regional thing, but the whole question just seems odd to me. It's phrased as if it's some dark secret to be be ashamed of or hidden from all.

To me, the question "when did they find out about your guns?" sounds as strange as "When did your significant other find out you had a fish tank?" or "How did your significant other find out that you use a cell phone."

I own guns, but they don't define who I am.

This got me thinking of all those old western photos of guys all slicked up in town getting their pictures taken with their guns. Go back even further and how did great famillies choose to identify themselves? By a coat of ARMS. I remember when I was a kid, all great and sometimes not so great events were celebrated with gunfire. I've got no problem with my guns defining me.

I can't remember exactly when or how my wife-to-be found aout about my guns but I remember giving her a Detective Special when she got a job closing an office up in a bad part of town after dark. I'd been bugging her to marry me and make me an honest man for months.

I took her to my range to teach her how to use the gun and being the tightwad that I am signed us up as Mr. and Mrs. She enjoyed herself so much she said "well it looks like we're going to have to get married now."

I married a hardliner, the rest was icing on the cake. I wouldn't have as much as I do if it weren't for her. No moral bankruptcy around here. Old fashioned? Yup.

It was more the other way around for me.

After we'd been dating a couple of weeks, I had to travel for work. Her parents were visiting while I was out of town and she called me all excited that her dad had given her a winchester m70 super grade in 458 win mag.

'course I wondered a bit why her dad felt the need to give her that gun just after I started dating her...:uhoh:

First date- Took her shooting in the Owyhees. Any Honey that didn't appreciate roughing it shooting in the hills didn't get the second date with the fancy resturant and all.
