Just wondering if anyone noticed when they changed the standard for 32 H&R Magnum. I was looking up a couple things in the new SAAMI standards, and I noticed that they now have transducer standards in addition to crusher standards for 32 H&R Mag. I was surprised that they now list 23,000 psi as max pressure. I always thought it was assumed to be somewhere around 20,500 psi, but I may be thinking about CIP. Most manuals always listed CUP pressures. The highest PSI pressure I have ever seen in a manual was 20,400 psi from Alliant.

Interesting. I wonder why the change now when the .327FM is supplanting the little H&R cartridge in pocket revolvers?

FWIW my “pressure standard” has always been based on a 90gr JSP/JHP at 1000-1100fps from a 4-5/8” Ruger Single-Six. Even the lower-dollar Taurus and Charter revolvers seem to be able to manage that load without sticking or losing accuracy.

According to the spec it was updated in 2022. Each manual gets updated on a rotating 4-5 year cycle. They did not change the pressure so much as one of the SAAMI members took the time and effort to do the measurements with a transducer system and give that data to SAAMI. It is the same as it has always been a MAP 21,000 CUP and in this cartridge that apparently equates closely to 23,000 PSI (trans). They do round off most of the pressure data to the nearest 500 psi.
