...it pours.

After scoring the very nice 19-7 a couple weeks ago, today I came across a private sale of a model 19-4 4" in the box, never fired, blue. I'm really starting to enjoy the K frame Smiths, they're like scale models of the N frames to me :)

Asking price for the gun with box and tools was $550 firm, I didn't even flinch. The last very nice 19-4 I saw around here with no box, papers, tools was snatched away at $650. Beaters go for >$500.

The used "collector" market inflation is starting to find the fine old Smiths the way it did the Colts.

If you want 'em my advice is buy soon. The current Smiths just aint the same.

P.S. that's a beauty bikemutt!

I've taught several people to shoot hand guns. A funny thing about my Model 19-4 4"is that people seem to be able to shoot it fairly well without much practice. Good balance and points very naturally. Ya done good.

Nice gun Mutt. A friend tells me that none of the shops around SEA have squat for older Smiths, sounds like the private sale was a winner.

The local gun/pawn has a pristine 19-4, nickel, 4 inch barrel. $499 which I could probably get for $465 OTD. However, my wife would probably kill me as I already have 3 model 19's.

Scheming in progress...

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. BTW, this isn't always true.

That is an amazing deal, if I saw something like that around here I would probably faint on the spot. Lets us know when it's in your safe :)

This one will have some special appeal for a different reason. I mentioned how the last one I saw in very nice condition was "snatched away" for $650. Well, there's a short story there.

I was examining a well used 19-4 at the local pawnshop counter when one of the countermen mentioned they were about to bring out a new arrival 19-4, I asked to see it as I continued examining the first specimen. Well the fellow beside me with whom I'm acquainted, intercepted the arrival, took 5 seconds to look it over and bought it out from under me! Of course he let me grovel in my surprise and grief by allowing me to fondle the "one that got away".

Now I take things like this in stride, rather than being cranky about it I chided myself for being slow. However, revenge is a dish best served cold, my friend, Mr. Quickdraw, will soon have the opportunity to fondle the "one you never even got a shot at", I'll be sure to mention the price as well :D

Very nice find at a great price. The k frames are great. I like both the 6" and 4". I have not gotten involved with the longer or shorter barrels. Check out the 14 & 15 as well.

I have a little collection of -3s. 14-3, 15-3, 17-3, 18-3 and 4" & 6" 19-3.

Rub it in, real good. ;)

Yes, I agree on the K38s, I've got a 4" 15-6 Combat Masterpiece and a 1950-made 6" K38, the latter I'm especially proud to own, it's simply a wonderful handgun.
