I'm wanting to order a NEW Mauser 98 Action. I have no interest in re-working an old one. Can anyone point me to a company that makes/sells new Mauser 98 Actions?

Remington sells the Zastava-built Mausers (from former Yugoslavia), and the actions have been imported over the years by several different distributors. Interarms and Charles Daly are two that come readily to mind. You may be able to find a new, old-stock (NOS) Mark X Mauser action, as they were called. I don't think Remington is importing just the actions.

Other than that, you're either going to have to buy a complete rifle (Remington M798), or go without. FWIW, many custom rifle builders have stated over the years that making a good milsurp Mauser into a really nice rifle is easier than doing it with a Zastava action. The better milsurp actions are smoother.

Check with Brownells.com. Remington has terminated their contract with Zastava, but Brownell may still have some stock left over.
However, this is an expensive way to get into a Mauser action. Find a used MkX somewhere. You can polish up the "innards" of a Zastava easy enough. Just put some polishing compound on the bolt and "work" the bolt in the races. Just don't coat the lugs and rotate the bolt which can set back the lugs if done too agressively.

Very interesting!! I have in my safe, a brand new in the box Mark X standard bolt face action, with late style push button floor plate release and optional fully adjustable trigger. beautifully blued and taken out and wiped down every August. Made in 1989 with inspection and import certificate of origin papers in box. I paid $154.00 for it in 1999 from a shop that was closing. I got a Mark X 30-06 barrel action from 1989 in the same deal for $300.00, it also gets taken out and wiped down every August. The 30-06 has Millet bases and rings installed.

Coming Soon:
I wouldn't bet on it...it was "coming soon" last month...then this month...and now next month. Probably a hold up due to importation trouble, but that is only speculation. I imagine that they will eventually get some in, but who knows when that will be. :)
