hi,i been busy till now and am back in the hobby.so i went to where i bought my cetme 308 nato rifle to buy more australian ammo lol, well nobody has it anymore.they have indian ammo but thats the only stuff that jams in my gun.could someone please help me out here?i want ammo for under $0.50 a round for practice ammo.oh and i don't want steel casings cause my gun has fluted chamber that may crack them.i would reload my own but the fluted chamber may crack brass after several reloadings.

Ammoman Has some alright deals...It's not too much more than other places, but shipping is already figured into the price, so it ends up being quite a bit cheaper.

I suggest the Lituanian surplus, this is some fantastic stuff; accurate and the brass is thick and good quality.

Unfortunately 50 cents a round is about the going rate for any decent .308.

Lithuanian and Prvi Partisan Serb stuff are the 2 most commonly in stock at the vendors.

I like the Lithuanian also, I've had good luck reloading with the brass.

If you can find a port buffer that will fit your rifle you can cut the damage down a ton.

ok that was fine but the smallest box was 500 count.i want about half that or less.i'll look into a port buffer thingy.venders have been trying to charge much more than $0.50 a round for practice ammo.this is a shock to me as i have'nt bought ammo since i bought the gun with a big box of aus ammo 2 yrs ago.non of my other guns have ever fired a factory made round.

ok looks like thats about as good as i'll find.oh and i looked up that port buffer and that would'nt fix the damage to the casings.my problem is'nt dents so much as the flutes cut into the chamber leave grooves cut into the casing after being fired just like a glocks chamber.i figure if i reloaded them that they would crack along the grooves in the casing

I have a PTR91 and it has the same fluted chamber.

In my experience the flutes don't damage the brass as much as it looks like.

I have several that have been reloaded 6 or 7 times now and still doing OK.

They look like hell but I have yet to see one actually come apart. Not that it couldn't happen but it doesn't appear to be too bad.

Nearly all the damage occurs to the case mouth and THAT is where I end up throwing brass away. The port buffer made a huge difference with that.

maybe i'll check into reloading it after all then.more stuff to look into.308 dies, casings, slugs lol.i'm disabled at home so i have more time than money.i've reloaded cases with small dents in them for the 30-06 without problem.some people just had me concerned about reloading for this gun.thanks.

Not sure what's happening there now, but keep an eye on Aimsurplus.Great operation, tons of good stuff, and i think they sometimes see some of the S.African, but it ain't $27 a battlepack, anymore !!

cheapest so far is winchester for $0.50 a round.i'll get 200 and stick to shooting my pistol till the price comes back down and surplus is available again.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think you are going to be a pistol shooter for awhile.

is 510 for a 1000 rds of 147 ggg Lithuanian a good deal?

Is 510 for a 1000 rds of 147 ggg Lithuanian a good deal, delivered.

i don't think so cause your not getting any price break for buying bulk.if i buy 1000 rounds i would expect a price break but i've only recently run out of ammo from 2yrs ago and i see theres a shortage and prices are up.never seen that coming.i thought during war 308 ammo would be everywhere but i thought wrong.now that i'm becoming more aware of the situation i have to ask,has anyone had cheep metal casings split while being shot in a cetme rifle?not gonna do it if anyone says it can split.

actually i just checked for reloading the 308 and they raised the prices on not only the loaded rounds but also all the supplies to load them yourself and thats if you can find the supplies you want.you can buy all the expensive stuff you can fit in your house.i'll probably buy 200 rounds of that lithuanian stuff monday and stick to shooting the pistol for awhile.

Hate to break it to you but in the surplus ammo business 1000 rounds is not considered "in bulk".

The price breaks on this ammo are per pallet, 28,000 rounds.

And yes $500 for a case of .308 is awfully high. It's ridiculously high.

Problem is there doesn't seem to be much chance of it ever going back down, only getting worse :(
