Jim March you've inspired me to make a couple of tuckable holsters for myself, however I have no idea what a good source of kydex is.

Thank you folks

Kydex sheets? Whats the problem, you don't like having to do laundry or something?:D

No! You cannot! It is a felony under federal law, punishable as a federal firearms offense!

Um, okay. Sorry.... just messing with you.

Cheers!

This page shows an earier model being being made (free, when I was first learning):

This "double fold pattern" where the underside is "cupped" isn't the only solution. I also have a "Mark5" where it folds straight across and leaves the muzzle open. I'm able to do a Glock rig that will hold any barrel length, for example.

The "double fold" is narrower overall, which has some benefits too. On the "longer" single-fold, I gently bent the whole thing to fit the contours of the wearer's body. Did one of those Glock rigs for a guy with a 32" belt size and it made a huge difference on him.

This part is important: it turns out that .060 grade kydex is strong enough for knife sheaths and IWB gun rigs, but NOT for belt connections. It's too thin and will rip. OK? You must do one of two things: on an outside-the-belt rig of any sort (knife/gun/whatever), do brass eyelets around the rim and then tie it to the belt with paracord or leather lace, OR do belt connections in .090" grade or thicker, which must be somehow "linked" to the .060 main body. Or do everything in .090 but on IWB, that's not as comfy.

The other thing I'm playing with is "single sided molds". The side of the kydex that runs along your body is flat, only the outer face is molded to the gun/knife/whatever. This is NOT as secure as double-sided molding, but for IWB applications the belt tightens the whole thing and retention is more than adequate if done right.

The payoff in comfort is huge.

Here's a planned design for an IWB double-mag-or-whatever pouch:

Getting the edges clean is a beech. The pros use bench grinders with 6" - 8" cloth polishing wheels. I've had decent results with Dremel felt polishing bits and at least that's portable.

back pocket one I made for my P-32:

and one for the front pocket:

PVC glue works well for holding them together...

This can go now where good. Next thing you know someone will be posting " Kydex or Leather - Which one will be least harsh on the skin on my Girlfriends Back?"
