Where'd all the 25-20 & 32-20 go?

Been looking for some 25-20 and it's all disappeared. Seems not that long ago I could find a bag of 50 for 30 dollars.

Now it's unobtainable or over 2 dollars a unprimed shell.

What happened or what did I miss?

25 WCF has been obsolete for a long time. Since 2019 32 WCF has been too. I think the ammo makers have been playing catch up for the past couple years. You may eventually see some 32 WCF made again if there is a demand for it. I think 25 WCF is dead.

I bought a Marlin M1894CL in 2016. I scoured the internet for sources of .218Bee brass. Paid nearly $2 a case even then for a box of once fired .218. I was able to buy 200rds of Starline .32-20cases. I bought Lee .218 and .25-20 dies and used the .25-30 dies as a step-down die to form .218Bee cases. They were around $0.32ea iirc.
I’m hoping that they will eventually make another run of .32-20 as I’d like to have a couple of hundred for my New Model Ruger BlackHawk in .30Carbine.
Wouldn’t you know it, in 2018 Hornady made a production run of brass, ammo, and bullets. But I still adothe little rifle…

Keep an eye on Starline's website, when 32-20 turns yellow and opens for backorder, by a thousand pieces and be done with it;-) 25-20 is a bit harder....you're going to have to scrounge the brass sellers for that, and you'll likely have to pay a lot. Winchester, Remington, Quality Cartridge and Hornady all make 25-20 brass (they all make 32-20 as well, but Starline is the easiest to get), but it has been unobtanium for 3 years. Maybe now that everybody is getting caught up, it might start showing up again. 32-20 has come up for backorder twice in the past 6 months, so if you're patient, you'll see it again, but you'll have to hunt for 25-20.

I’m going to put a backorder Starline order in for 32-20 brass.

do you guys know if they charge you before or after the order is shipped?

They charge you when you order. Then if it doesn't ship in a week, the charge will drop off until it ships. If it takes more than 30 days, they'll call you to make the payment. 32-20 is red right now, you've got to check every day for it to go yellow for back order.

That's what it says on their web page but my experience is they never call or email you. They have accepted back orders for years on the 41 Long Colt but never have made any.

If you have your order number send them a email with it in the subject matter. I did that on some 357sig brass that got caught up in the madness. I received a rely from them. When I placed the order I expected a long delivery data, 9 mo +. And I was right. They contacted me asking if I still wanted them and asked to call to give the CC info. I received my order less than a week later, like 2-3 days. They said they only keep the card info for 30 days before it deleted from there system for security reasons.

my local had 50 .357 brass sitting in a plastic rack tray. Ask how much, guy says don’t know, .38 prices I guess… $2! lol

My experience has been great, and they always call me when it's time for backordered brass to ship. I just got a call from them Friday in fact for my backordered 44-40, they updated payment information and shipped it, arrived today. I buy anywhere from 5K to 10k pieces of new brass from Starline every month, and they've been mostly flawless with their service.

You missed buying some up, so you too could sell it for 2 bucks each!

I've been dealing with them for many years. They have never called or emailed me except emails when an order shipped to me. They are terrible about replying to emails.
