I am considering buying a reasonably priced .22 LR, Bolt Action that I want to scope. Can anyone make a suggestion as to what rifle and what scope will fit the bill?
Bought a cz-452 after all the recommendations here. Mine is the type with the hooded front sight and threaded muzzle. With a fixed power 4X scope on it is set up for rabbit hunting. But at the range it's still like a laser. For target shooting I'd get the varmint/heavy barrel model and put a more powerful scope on. thanks thr
Ruger 10/22 is never a bad choice IMHO. Get yourself a 10/22 and you will not regret it. If you want to go for a higher velocity I think Ruger made a 10/22 in .17HMR as well as one in .22WMR
I got a CZ 452 and put a $15 Brooks trigger kit into it. Sweetest shooting rifle I have ever used.
Go over to www.rimfirecentral.com and check things out as well. Although I will always recommend a CZ 452, there are lots of other good deals out there too.
It makes me wonder. Why would folks suggest a semi when it was specified in the first post that the requirement is a bolt action? Not knocking the 10/22, I have ten of them myself. Also, the 10/22M has been discontinued for about a year now and the 10/17 died on the vine.
IMO, CZ 452 or 453. The Marlin and Savage offerings are good, but short of the performance of the CZs as well as built quality from my experience. The CZs cost a little more but are worth it, IMO.
TRY to find a Remington 541-T or the 541-S.
I'm referring to the 'sporter' version of the 541-T, not the bull-barreled Target model.
When Remington discontinued the 541-S, I looked everywhere for one before they disappeared. No such luck.
After learning that Remington was re-introducing it as the 541-T, I ordered one immediately.
cdnn sports , has zastava mini mauser's for $139 .they are now being sold as remingtons. i got one for my daughter .it is beautiful! and it shoots great.i put a $ 39 bsa sweet .22 scope on it,one heck of a rig.
I would choose from 3 here. Savage and marlin for low end cost. now the savage will be accurate, with a nice strong bolt assy. it will also be mag fed. Marlin has been making their '81 series for 70 yrs now. I have one made in 37-39, and their new 981's sell at Academy for about 150 every day. the beauty of this rifle is it is tube fed, and will fire short , long, and lr's.It will hold 25 shorts at one time! so cool. And accuracy? well , it's Marlin rimfire, nuff said.
If I was going to spend more money , to get something I would keep for life, then i would go Cz. They make so namy diff 22 models, and they are all fantastic. http://www.cz-usa.com/products_rimfire_rifles.php?m=1
I can "drive tacks" @100Yds with my Savage MkII, right out of the box!
If'n ya got more money ta spend, go for the stainless bull barrel. Sweet
gun, the Accu-Trigger is great. With a nice scope and rings, you'll only
be down $250-300 bucks.
